Shaw just doubled their bandwidth

Actually, more than doubled.

The new packages coming out look very very nice. $119 for 250Mbps and no cap... yes please.

Only with there TV service.

Gumby 06-07-2011 11:49 AM

And there doesn't appear to be a way to remove TV service on their website...

willystyle 06-07-2011 11:52 AM

You can't. It's their way to prevent loss of TV revenue from online streaming services like Netflix.

Vette Dood 06-07-2011 11:58 AM

GF will never settle for no TV so its moot for me.. bring on the super internet :)

bloodmack 06-07-2011 12:32 PM

Nice to see they are at giving us more bandwith. Esp cause of the usage billing they'll eventually be doin :P

But this was done instead of usage based billing.

StylinRed 06-07-2011 12:53 PM

under the SPP plan we'd end up paying more a month for relatively the same thing (lose some channels gain some others)

and if we stayed under Legacy and just added new internet service we'd be paying $10 more a month nehow

-_-

already paying $200/mth

there's a discussion in the computer thread

but anyway they've made these new offers / packages in place of UBB

but if you go over your cap instead of charging like $10/gb ;) they bump you up to the next internet package on top of yours for that month you go over (since there's more bandwidth on the next level up)

Chronix 06-07-2011 03:07 PM

shaw doesnt cap your bandwidth anymore i thought since its illegal and they almost got in shit for it.

i switched from telus to shaw couple months ago and called them to make sure, they said we dont cap.

I canceled my TV service last month. Is this something new? I only have TV when I have renters.

I have Extreme, no phone or TV.

He was referring to the new plans, the one bundled with TV are better. So you can't get THOSE packages without having the TV option.

Oleophobic 06-07-2011 07:57 PM

new bundles look sweet

but what I don't get is...
The price for Shaw Extreme and Broadband 50 if bundled with Personal TV (SPP) is the same at $84.90....wtf? Won't people naturally choose Broadband 50 since you get 400 GBs and 50 Mbps...

never mind lol fail I didn't realize they were replacing the existing bundles

Nightwalker 06-07-2011 08:33 PM

WTF at 2 fails for the OP

Teriyaki 06-07-2011 09:38 PM

slightly misleading title. Its the data cap that they doubled on the grandfathered plans only. Hmm, now to make a decision...

PornMaster 06-07-2011 09:40 PM

hmm Iam paying 25 a month for telus turbo which is constant 6mbps is it worth the switch?

My gf has shaw extreme and my internet seems a lot faster. However she does have bursts of high speed

Culverin 06-07-2011 09:42 PM

I'm confused. If i've got an existing High Speed Extreme plan from them, what happens? Just my data cap goes up?

What about those other plans, does it eventually turn into Broadband 50?

I guess if you have less than Extreme and aren't upgrading that is true.

StylinRed 06-07-2011 10:27 PM

took a speed test and my upload is up to 2.5mbps download doesnt seem to ever go higher than 18mbps (usually 15 or less)though -_- (on extreme)

Culverin 06-07-2011 11:26 PM

I'm on Extreme, North Burnaby.

Down: 20.05 Mbps
Up: 2.38 Mbps

Neva 06-07-2011 11:55 PM

did one earlier today and got:

down: 24.xx mbps
up: 2.xx mbps

only a couple months ago I was sitting at 2.xxmbps down with no change in subscription. So either I was getting screwed before or getting treated now????
whatevs

bengy 06-08-2011 12:08 AM

100$ for internet? Unless you're running an online business, that's a lot of $$$

xilley 06-08-2011 01:13 AM

fuck shaw, telus ftw
never DCed

JesseBlue 06-08-2011 03:42 AM

Failed as this was on the...guess where...computer section! Plus the pricing is still highway robbery and people are already kissing their feetf for this....sheeesh...I pay 34 after taxes and get decent numbers...On teksavvy cable which is a leased shaw line...I don't need cable since I stream what I need which is not much to begin with...navi-x ftw
