that's too bad ... if a single ssd could be used as cache for all attached (or specified drives) that would be awesome. maybe in the next generation of chipsets...

Just installing windows now.

Cool. I'll see if I can pull that off in my 650D too. Thanks!

dammm nice. I was about to troll u because i saw amd cpu instead of sandy bridge. I notice u got the new 600T in white.. hot shit ^_^
and have fun with 80+ gold... I wish my psu could save money on electricity bills.

SaviorSelf_666 06-16-2011 11:35 PM

^thanks!

This new SRT tech was a bitch to get right, I guess the Mobo has two chipsets for its sata3. So you gotta make sure your os drive is by itself and then the ssd/spinner drive have to be on the other chipset. Wish the manual would explain that!

Well on my third re-install of windows :P.

Tomorrow ill take some good shots of the rig.

noTirl 06-17-2011 08:40 PM

hey geby you mind taking a zoomed shot of the SRT setup?
im planning to do that as well when my parts are in.

SaviorSelf_666 06-17-2011 09:05 PM

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...j/IMG_0109.jpg
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...j/IMG_0108.jpg

So I have it like this:
OS is a SSD - runinng off the Marvel chipset w/ the blu ray drive
Storage is a SSD+HD running off the Intel chipset
then a spare 2.5 drive I had that I just threw in there. (also in the intel chipset)

Now this depends on which motherboard you go with, I assume it will vary quite a bit.

noTirl 06-17-2011 09:20 PM

yeah i have the asus z68 v pro mobo
from the ncix video there seems to be two sata3 connectors on the intel chipset and two on 3rd party
damn after seeing your setup i want that case now

SaviorSelf_666 06-17-2011 09:25 PM

Yeah so you'd have your HD and a SSD on either the 3rd party or the Intel chipset. Then you would have your OS drive on the other chipset. <--- this is the part where no one told me, the rest is easy.

Yeah the case was a really good choice, just going to add one more video card for xfire and then call it a day.

Datsun 06-17-2011 09:29 PM

Redneck cable sleeving FTW.

SaviorSelf_666 06-17-2011 09:33 PM

^damn he has the dual fan version 6870 I wanted :(

I had to use some of that sleeving, but in black for two yellow sata cables.

I think I'm going to add a red or blue led strip for extra light.

NZXT make a sick one:
http://www.nzxt.com/new/products/cas...led_kit_-_blue

On a side note, crysis 2 is amazing with this thing, max settings...not even a stutter. Soo good!!

Donut, you get your rig all done?

Datsun 06-17-2011 09:41 PM

Yeah, my rig is functional but physically, its a mess. :P I also have a roll of those tubing in my room but I'll get to work on wiring after midterms... :(

For NZXT LEDs, I'd choose red. I'm actually working on getting have the same color scheme you've got going on (white, black, red, gold) ATM I'm hunting down some gold thumbscrews for my PCI slot covers. Then I'm going to change out all the LEDs in my fans/fan controller/etc to white.

Speaking of NZXT, those real sleeved extensions they make are tempting...way too expensive though. I guess I'll have to live with my rainbow wires for now until I find a cheaper solution like those tubings, lol

noTirl 06-17-2011 09:51 PM

i actually only have one ssd so ill be installing the OS onto the HD and caching the ssd to that

SaviorSelf_666 06-17-2011 10:11 PM

^Yup so it's easier :D

tegz 06-17-2011 10:42 PM

What the heck is this SRT thing and where can I buy one? :IDL

roastpuff 06-17-2011 11:00 PM

It's my first time using an SSD, any optimization tips that you guys can share? Can I just install Windows 7 onto it like a regular drive?
