Watching CTV live, seems like some people wearing the white masks are using the fire extinguishers to help people stay out? The store with the guy reading the red shirt and black tie. Not sure, just what it appears to me. I hope im right

Using force could always backfire and get people angrier.
And if force resulted in fatalities or serious injuries, you know the wingnuts accusing police brutality would be all over the police. The police can't really win in this situation. They're trying to contain the situation and hopefully tire people out. Perhaps once the cavalry arrives (RCMP reinforcements), perhaps they'll start deploying formations to intimidate.
