Who is Ehrhoffs agent and I wonder who else he represents

SkinnyPupp 06-30-2011 06:31 PM

[strike]Sucks that[/strike] Glad that they didn't sign AIR HOFF for $4 million a year :\

AzNightmare 06-30-2011 06:33 PM

I guess Ehrhoff's kids aren't going to go to school in Germany anymore.

SkinnyPupp 06-30-2011 06:40 PM

Wow Hoff's $40 million is structured in a way that nearly HALF of it is paid in the first 2 years... that's scary.

I thought we offered him 4.6??

So he wanted a long-term deal that the Canucks were not providing is that the story?

usually, motherland=russia, fatherland= germany

just FWIW:)

woob 06-30-2011 08:41 PM

I guess MG didn't want to hold onto Ehrhoff for a decade.

SkinnyPupp 06-30-2011 08:43 PM

It's hardly even a "10 year deal". It is more like a 5 year deal for $40 million, so $8 million per year. It's just written up at a 10 year contract for cap purposes.

If he turns out to have the durability of Lidstrom, then it's a good deal. And we all know how many Lidstroms there have been in the league, right?

They could always go for boarding school. He can afford it now (not that he couldn't before... but just saiyan),

#NHL #Sabres Christian Ehrhoff will be one of three players making $10 million next season (Lecavalier, Bryzgalov) http://bit.ly/lY2UJ3

Can someone explain to me how this isn't a violation of the CBA?

I thought Kovy did something similar to this last year and got his ass handed to him?

IIRC, It doesn't affect Air Hoff since he won't turn 40 until (just) after the contract.

Higgins is a roster spot. He plays the position (3rd or 2nd line wing), nothing more or less. Hes reliable in that he wont seriously fuck up but hes not a standout. If we lose him, its not a big loss. If he stays, he doesnt belong above 3rd line.

U just contradicted yourself....

Looks like Buffalo just came up with another way to circumvent the salary cap with signing bonuses. Ehrhoff gets $18M in the first 2 years. His last 3 years, he's paid $1M.

League has approved the contract as well. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot more contracts structured this way in the future.

shawn79 07-01-2011 02:12 AM

i hope to wake up and see the canucks sign one of these
Simon Gagne, Tomas Fleischmann, Ville Leino and Michael Ryder

trade raymond to nyr for callahan rfa rights
Tomas Fleischmann to replace raymond :alone:

He's getting $3M total in those 3 years.

Also with the CBA expiring next year, free agents should think about how to structure their contracts. The CBA will be automatically extended on a yearly basis unless either sides decides to cancel. I don't see the NHLPA wanting to but with some teams being forced to spend higher than their internal cap, the owners will be looking for some changes soon. Maybe something will be done then to stop these types of contracts from happening.
