Officially, it was never confirmed by anyone. MG and Gilman both said no comment when a reporter asked about the "Hodgson Camp" asking for the trade.
And it was John Garret who said it might have been Cody's dad who had something to do with the trade. And B Mac asked specifically if Cody's dad had asked for the trade and Garret said "No, but where there's smoke, there is fire".

They brought up the fact that Cody's dad plays a big part about his career and how he is only 21 and how everyone at that age listens to their dad's. Something about how the family went against Dave Gagner when it came to what Cody was going to do to help heal his back.

I can see Kassian is pretty quick with his hands

I can't picture anyone else from the current roster being able to take a rush from Ovi and stand him up. Ovi was going pretty fast and he's a big guy too.

I honestly feel that even if we kept him for the next couple years, he wouldn't re-sign in Vancouver, especially if Gillis asks him for a "hometown" discount (which seems to be the popular trend), because he clearly wanted to go east to be closer to his family and be able to play a more prominent role. Nobody with his talent is going to want to stay plugged in the 3rd line behind All-Stars Henrik and Kesler.

I remember everyone was crying about how we didn't draft big, bad Lucic, and now that we FINALLY acquire 6'4" 213lb Kassian who is in his mold and possibly even has the potential to be even better, everyone starts crying about how we lose skill with Hodgson.

Lol I listen to team1040 all day everyday, no one ever confirmed anything, least of all any TSN guys etc

Only person that had any sort of legit scoop was tony Gallagher and even his was more or less speculation.
