Off the top of my head, you guys have giordano who is great and not too old. I'd consider him untouchable. everyone else should be expendable
Regarding your franchise sadly...
Jaybo unfortunately was/is overrated by the entire hockey world when he was a UFA. Thank god the canucks didnt take him...and his 6.7 million dollar cap hit.
Trading Phaneuf for a bag of pucks was also horrible. Everyone kept talking about how Ian White coming back from Toronto was one good thing coming back the other way as he was severely underrated. Now Calgary lets him loose...and hes doing decently in Detroit (although that could be hes playing with future HOFer Lidstrom)
Me and every armchair gm would cream themselves if we could land Iggy in Vancouver. But this is probably the last place he'd come...considering our cap and that we are division rivals. But even more outlandish trades have happened ie kessel for seguin and bryz in richards carter out
Okay that was a long rant, but if the flames GM has any balls he needs to move iggy. Team needs to be blown up. boom

I think its up to the owners to give the OKAY on moving Iggy
hes not just a hockey player to the gflames, but he is an ambassador for the city and all the community projects and such that he runs makes the decision an even tougher choice
it doesn't matter, iggy's heart will always be with calgary
He's our Trevor Linden
its hard to hate the guy or even just BOO the guy

I don't mean to derail the convo but Ovechkin is averaging around 18:46 a game, Backstrom with 18. That's 2 minutes less than 2 years ago, when they were actually putting up points. I know they're playing more defensively as a team but why is Brooks Laich averaging the same amount of icetime? WTF, your star players need to be playing heavy minutes.

iggy means more to the nhl and canada than linden. Just because Linden does alot of community service linden =/= iggy
People knows linden because what he has done off the ice for this community. I remember him reading a book to me when i was in grade 2  with big country  | |
