any possible way to get the thanks and fail button for RS MOBILE ?!?! :fullofwin: :fuckyea:

RRxtar 06-17-2011 06:38 AM

Keep it.

SkinnyPupp 06-17-2011 06:43 AM

Please stay on topic. This is about keeping the button or not, not crying about failing me. That's never gonna happen :troll:

RRxtar 06-17-2011 06:44 AM

It was on topic. It was about whether or not certain 'members' have a double standard for the fail button or not. Post a poll for that one too then.

SkinnyPupp 06-17-2011 07:01 AM

I just don't want to turn this into a gong show. Like I said it's not going to happen, so there's no need for a poll or anything like that.

As a side note, I am trying to make efforts to be kinder to people online. Maybe I am not trying hard enough... I often find it hard to find the connection between "online people" and actual "people". I'll put even more effort into being less malicious on forums.

Now let's get back to the topic :)

It's only to see where the membership stands on the subject. Any final decisions on the button will be made by the mod team. The final result of the poll may have some influence on it. I know there are pros and cons to it, so I thought I'd throw the poll up for now

StylinRed 06-17-2011 07:02 AM

keeps (although ive noticed some take it reaaaalllllly personal see my support forum thread;) hell even i got a bit annoyed from the troll)

murd0c 06-17-2011 07:03 AM

We have to keep it. Look what happened the last time it was removed. Maybe only make it available to people with only a certain number of posts tho?

Things like this is what needs to be discussed :)

Last time we brought it back after a break, and lowered the limit to 5 a day. Maybe it should be set to 1 or 2?

We can also set it so only the first post can be FAILable, but that would ruin the Shit What Makes You Laugh thread...

Another option is to remove the stat from the avatar section, so it won't be so apparent. But when a post gets FAILED there is still that visual cue that someone fucked up...

gdoh 06-17-2011 07:08 AM

fail button gives a better quality of threads/posts imho

I honestly think one or two fails a day isn't enough. I find it honestly it helps weed out the BS and I like the advantage of people can also see all the fails.

Since this is more of a issue with newer members or members with less posts why don't you make it members with a certain number of posts can't be failed or fail? See how that works for a bit? My concern is new trolls signing up tho

wait what.. this is news to me.. we cant fail some ppl? how come?

SkinnyPupp 06-17-2011 07:34 AM

You need 100 posts to be able to fail someone. Newbs can be failed right away

krazynuck 06-17-2011 07:38 AM

You need to keep the fail button....it teaches valuable lessons and kind of is like touching something hot and burning your hand, you learn your lesson not to do it again.....at the same time you try different 'temperatures' until you find something that will not harm you....

The same can be said for posts....you must get failed to learn to become better

danned 06-17-2011 07:39 AM

just keep it

Unless the reason someone failed you is ambiguous. There have been times where i don't know what i was failed for. Sorry, can't read minds.

IMO, if i disagree with somebody, i want it to be very clear why i disagree with them. By that, i mean i actually type it out. It's a lot more clear than just leaving it to the guy to wonder wtf he did wrong.

that is true....I guess mine have been more black and white as in I knew for sure why I was failed

Cheeseburger 06-17-2011 08:36 AM

the fail button is misused, just because u dont agree with someone doesn`t mean it`s a fail

but if their opinion is so off base, then by all means

for example in twanger thread someone said ``i`m not into girls with tats``, he got like 20 fails

what if he said ``i`m not into brown girls``, would that get 20 fails too

jeedee 06-17-2011 08:39 AM

Like murd0c already suggested, how about raising the post count to use the fail button?

100 posts is waaay to small imo. I would say around 1000+ posts to use it would be better. By 1000 posts, people should be mature enough to know when and how to use it.

Nightwalker 06-17-2011 08:39 AM

NO! Fail button is good

spoon.ek9 06-17-2011 08:43 AM

keep it! personally, there are a lot of days where 5 fails just aren't enough to cover what's going on. i'd like to see the post requirement bumped up higher to 500 or so instead of 100.

1000 seems really excessive to me. i would say more in the 300-500 range. that's the post count of a regular. i think it took me around 4 years to break 1000 posts. it would suck to have to wait that long to fail some posts on here.

i'd read the post and search for the fail button and be like

:fuuuuu:

!LittleDragon 06-17-2011 09:20 AM

How about not being able to use the fail button without a response? This IS a discussion forum, hitting a button isn't having a discussion with someone IMO. I don't post often anymore, maybe a couple a week but it's nowhere where it used to be. I don't feel like spending the time writing up a post, trying to have a discussion and someone hits the fail button without a reason why. I haven't purposely hit the fail button either. There was one time someone linked to the fail button in a post and a few times I hit it by clicking around but never on purpose.
