Wow...I thought our money was already pretty good looking but these are gorgeous...except maybe the realistic portrait. A more stylized one similar to what's on our bills now might look better.

But damn...how can Americans stand to just have green?

Expresso 06-20-2011 04:33 PM

These new ones may be harder to produce, but unless they phase out the old paper bills counterfeits will still be circulating out there.

No more of this happening when you excite a kid with a hundred... Have images of the 5/10/20 been released yet?

Watercloset 06-20-2011 06:04 PM

I actually like these new bills. Reminds me of the bill in Hong Kong. They also don't get dirty as hell like the normal bills.

shenmecar 06-20-2011 07:16 PM

I like this a lot! Can't wait to see these in real life

IMO, having a fat stack of bills after getting a ton of paper change from the states is a http://29.media.tumblr.com/avatar_986e1d4a49a2_128.png moment for me.

JesseBlue 06-20-2011 07:51 PM

I've seen a similar looking bill long ago in Brunei...probably like 15 years ago....I don't think that there are any counterfeiters there at all but they still had it

Agreed and is it just me or do American bills generally get so fucking beat up and feel even shittier compared to our paper bills. The only thing I like about American bills is the $1 bill. I freaking hate change.

Feels like only yesterday that the current generation of bills came out. Damn..

Australia and Vietnam had polymer bills for many years now, but the "single point light source" feature is definitely new. I'm just wondering if we will make these bills ourselves though. Some countries actually outsource their currency.

The Bank of Canada produces currency for several countries. I would be very surprised if we were forced to outsource our currency.

The other thing is when you pull out a wad of american $1 bills, at first glance you look like a baller, until someone notices you have like $13. :troll:

That's what they always do. Whens the last time you have got one of these.

Mexico has a plastic note too.

SpicyToFu 06-20-2011 09:35 PM

Definitely looks cooler. Also it doesn't look like it will easily stay folded from the sound of it.

Anything made by men will inevitably be copied by other men, its just a matter of time. At least now, a suitcase of freshly printed "old" bills will stand out more than ever.

felt so rich when i was in vietnam holding a stack of 500,000 thousand dong bills.

converted 500 bucks worth. so i got like 10 mill :D

the picture doesnt do justice though. just to show vietnam has this too.

StylinRed 06-20-2011 09:42 PM

and the counterfeiting has begun (what with that informative video) ;)

drunkrussian 06-20-2011 10:36 PM

I'm looking forward to these. As for USD, I really have to make sure I'm counting out the proper bills every time. I've made the mistake once of leaving a $20 tip instead of a $5 tip.

Didn't know that. Can you list which ones?
