Wow, I don't think the counterfeiters will be able to come even close to making a passable duplicate. In my experience they never truly got a grasp on the current generations hologram strip.

I can't wait for these new bills. They look so nice.
Will they still reveal extra things under UV light?

I hate dealing with American bills.
I'm always so paranoid about handing out the wrong bills.
I always take extra long to stare at my bills before paying for something just to make sure.

While it's true nothing is impossible to counterfeit... this will be pretty damn hard.
It's not easy for counterfeiters to simply just get the resources (or the ability) to reproduce money, especially these new ones.

It's almost impossible to make a bill that's opaque and transparent on the same sheet with such precision. You would need some pretty specialized equipment. Gone are the days when you could used a colour photocopier or inkjet. :lol (no, I never did this, but some douchebags at my highschool did).

When I was in thailand, I *think* it was the 2 baht coin had the silver rim around a gold center thing. A quick search reveals that it was in fact the canadian mint that made them.

They're like thainies...thoonies?

Nice! Hated how easily the current bills ripped, and the amount of counterfeits that people try to use is unbeleivable

how well do these fold (in a wallet and such)

From the plastic bills I have used previously, they fold in the wallet pretty much like paper bills.

New Canadian $20 polymer bill unveiled by Bank of Canada | News | Financial Post

New $20 bill!

pastarocket 05-02-2012 11:28 AM

I find that the $50 and $100 plastic bills stick to each other regularly because of static electricity. -got a good laugh from watching a cashier swearing in Cantonese because some new plastic bills kept sticking together.

Teriyaki 05-02-2012 11:40 AM

Hate how these count. Counting them all day at work compounds that.

Great (for now), that they can't be counterfeited easily yet so that makes selling/buying privately a lot safer.

They don't stick together because of static electricity... they stick together because one of the anti-counterfeiting measures are several raised plastic bumps and when those are against another bill, they tend to "grab" the other bill which causes it to slide with the first bill.

"honey do you have any dirty money?"

"yeah, I'll throw it in the washer with the clothes later."

Time to let go of the past and start putting people who done accomplished things for Canada.

Writers, Philosphers or anything that pushes Canadian Culture.

Granted I think that's what the quarter is for...
