If thats the bus that it hit.... Damn. Barely a dent.

Can't be, it has to be the camera angle. No way there's only damage like this to the bus.

The trolley buses are freaking heavy. Check Translink's fleet data:
http://www.translink.ca/~/media/docu...pictorial.ashx

The regular ones are 14200kg TARE and 19200kg GVWR. The articulated ones are even heavier at 19800kg TARE and 29000kg GVWR. When you hit something that heavy, good luck.

How the fuck did they build up that much speed during such a busy time of day? In my mind, the driver probably tried to pass on the right lane where the bus stopped.

The mass of the bus is why I yield and avoid travelling along side. Scary ass bus drivers some times don't see you.

That is the bus. Damage was completely on the right corner/ just behind the wheel well. Looks like the corolla tried to mount the sidewalk in a last ditch effort to avoid.

You can't see it from that angle but the back right panel is almost folded in half and that corner is very crumpled. The hardware inside the compartment which is mostly electronics was all bent inside.

weird thing is, it was a Hutterite family from Alberta that was in the accident. they're kinda like the Amish. and the mother was driving. not the son. very strange. rush hour. swerving. i'm wondering if there's a possibility that any of Toyota's recalls have anything to do with the crash.

a C-lai was driving 100+ on city streets?

imagine the Corolla bounced onto the middle lane instead of the curb, or if someone is waiting to cross...

I wonder if they'll ever figure out the reason for such reckless operation of the vehicle. Maybe there was a mechanical malfunction...can't really explain it otherwise.

Mechanical malfunction... Lol. You mean the car suddenly accelerate and the brake suddenly stop working? That's comical. For such a slow ass car to build up that much speed is no mechanical failure my friend. It's brain failure.

Remember the Corolla hit a bus.....the energy of the corolla moving doesn't doesn't effect the bus much. Like running into a thick concrete wall.
