Seems to me some country folk were driving in the big city for the first time and got fustrated with rush hour traffic. Doubt there is much rush hour in Alberta. They've probably never experienced anything like Granville street at 6pm.

I would estimate impact speed at about 60 km/h.

I would also conjecture that at least one of the passengers was not wearing a seat belt.

That's actually really reasonable although some would argue they were going faster.

Most people say "i crashed at 60" when what they mean is they were going 60 and a guy turned left infront of them, and they did an emergency brake to 20~30km/h and got in a collision.

In this case, they were prolly going 80~100 and slowed down to 50~60 km/h which could easily result in that wreck, especially since hitting a bus is pretty much equivalent to hitting a concrete wall, and even possibly worse if the front end hit the rear corner of a bus.

I think they would have a higher chance of surviving if they smacked the bus dead on, as opposed to a 'frontal offset crash'.. I highly doubt the bus really has much of a 'crumple' zone on the corners.. RIP

There's also a lot of keyboard warriors in this thread..
