Runs big, I wear 9 in converse and got these in 8 and can still wear a pair of thick wool socks with them.

I chose brown because it is a lot more versatile and I like the look when they become worn and faded (search the styleforum thread on wolverine 1km for pics). I also sealed mine with montana's pitch blend to protect them against water; it also makes the leather a darker rich brown colour.

My only complaint is that it is very slippery when it snows... i should've re-soled them with vibram soles when I first got them, but oh well...

Hope I can pull the off the Wolverine Emerson.
I've tried on boots a few times, like Red Wings, Clarks DB etc but they all look odd on me.
I find that I usually wear narrower shoes and shoes that aren't too round at the toe.

Any pointers how to wear them boots?

i think you're just not comfortable with your own look in them. i dont really ever see someone wearing boots and think, "god those does not suit him!". unless you're wearing shorts or something.

they hold up pretty good. i suppose it might depend on which cobbler you go to, but its a basic procedure and all but the worst cobblers will get it done right. i think it cost me around $20.
i've only worn my boots probably 15 times in the last year so i cant really speak for the durability of the soles.
surely they'll last at least 3-4 years before possibly having to be re-done. better than re-soling the actual leather.

You're probably right. I'm just not really comfortable/used to the looks of wearing boots.
I wear mostly slim/skinny jeans these days. Do they work with boots? Or should I get some straight leg jeans? You guys prefer to roll them up at the ankle or tug them in?

Just bought myself a pair of Clarks Beeswax Desert Boots
Since this is my first pair of leather boots, I was wondering how to care for them
Do I need any leather protectors, water proofers, cleaners etc ?

thanks

Treat the leather with some mink oil from time to time. Approx every 2-3 weeks if you wear them often enough. It will keep the leather healthy.

Did you pick em up at Costco? I knabbed a pair for $99 bucks. Not too shabby. They also had some Frye James Inline Zip's for $199, but I didn't like the style unfortunately. Killer deal though.

5 year bump.

Its raining outside. I'm wearing Lacoste tennis shoes and am scared of puddles etc. I need something that will keep my feet dry.

Any suggestions for weekend/casual wear for waterproof shoes? Something with a decent grip. Budget maybe $100? These shoes would be worn with jeans typically.

Nike Komyuter

These have been excellent on rainy Hong Kong days

However waterproof works both ways - it keeps sweat in, so they are really unsuitable for hot Hong Kong days.

So I have to choose carefully which days to wear them

I think they have a cool, unique look too. Very techy with the magnetic snaps and pullstrap lace in the back

They'd be even better for Vancouver IMO, since you get the rain without the heat
