It's painful and sad to see any sentient creature made to suffer needlessly, the childish reason for forcing innocent beings to endure such appaling conditions just make it all the more sad.
Situations like this should serve as reminders to us that among the unique traits possessed by human beings is the desire to watch other creatures suffer for our amusement - a trait that we should work as a society to eliminate.

I'll buy a bunch just to release them back into the lakes where they belong, not in cramped up little bags where they can't breathe while swimming in disgusting coloured chemical water.

While its certainly not the most PETA approved way of fish transportation, if that is truly the purpose I don't see the problem. Its a stupid novelty for a couple of days, after which the fish gets put into an aquarium I assume.
Goldfish are like practice fish anyhow. Anyone here who has had some growing up, know they end up in the toilet sooner or later. Its always due to negligence in some way or another. Should we start issuing licenses to raise fish, and sending out inspectors to ensure the accommodations are suitable before selling fish to anyone. People keep them in horrible tortuous conditions all the time.
Cat in a bag? Ok, now that would be another story. Let it out.

Sometimes it's hard to hate these mainlanders cuz they r simply ignorant. They dun see things our way beacuse they've never been educated like we do. I think we need to realize these mainlanders were farmers just 20 years ago. Animals are nothing but tools. Cats are to catch mice, dogs are security guards, oxen are plowers. Just as how we dun understand how they can treat animals with such cruelty, they dun understand why we can treat animals as friends.
