Wind Mobile: your reviews

ok so Wind has some awesome plans for cheap.

who's on Wind and what do you think of the reception? Data plans?

I'm trying to Jump ship from Rogers.

also whats the most current kickass phone that works on Wind?

:fullofwin:

I've been on it for over a year and 9/10 for me in terms of service and reception. 10/10 in terms of price and value.

I'm on a SGS though, I have friends that's on them with their shitty huawei phones and complain of frequent dropped calls. My mom on her nokia has no problem with wind either.

get the Google nexus S

StylinRed 07-18-2011 06:42 PM

been on Wind since b4 xmas-ish

i like it, find the data a bit slow though especially seeing skinnypupps speeds on pccw over in hk ;)

but the pricing/service/csr's are great i noticed they kind of adjusted their pricing though doesn't seem as great as the deals prior to xmas but i dont know how they stack with other companies i imagine its still a deal

Wind is amazing in the amount of features I get and it only costs $40 a month. Unlimited calling, text, data, etc. However that being said I've stopped using my wind line.

I live up in north burnaby and reception appears perfect, meaing my 9700 shows full bars but I've been told that at times it can be difficult to hear what I'm saying and although its full bars it won't connect to BIS. At first I couldn't get any reception the moment I hit sperling and hasting but the week afterwards I got reception all the way up to Univercity. The same thing happened in Richmond, meaning reception one week and none the next. BIS is a hit or miss out in Richmond and downtown.

Unfortunately I need a phone that works 24/7 so I'll be sticking to fido for now. Also very annoying to hit tele in my car and have it say that I can't make a call.

Hope this can be of some help, just woke up.

I think the best phone available now that's Wind compatible is the HTC Sensation AWS version.

GLOW 07-19-2011 06:29 AM

the LG optima 2x is dual core and cheaper than the samsung google s on wind's website. wouldn't that be a better phone? just reading the reviews and it seems pretty good.

GG 07-19-2011 07:56 AM

seems like wind is fairly solid

stay the fuck away from mobilicity

my sister uses it and it absolutely blows donkey balls

no reception everywhere

gdoh 07-19-2011 08:34 AM

^this is true, my dad went with them because of the cheap plan and no contract but he always has problems with no reception and the phone wont even work in the US

Farfetched 07-19-2011 09:43 AM

I've found the reception to be pretty good if you're in Vancouver. Data is spotty at times, but generally ok for web browsing. Incidentally, it's roaming when you're underground on the Canada line.

Should just order SGS2 from newegg. Same price anyways as you would've gotten at NCIX. A few ppl from RFD already got theirs.

again, i'll be stuck on Rogers. I'm not ready to commit $750 (or 3 more years) till I see what Rogers will offer me at the end of my contract.

I still wanna see the next iPhone too :okay:

Longest month of my life except when my iPhone was stuck in a boot loop and no one had a (SHSH) fix except restore.

When's the end of your contract? There's gonna be the Samsung Infuse coming soon and the HTC Evo 3D as well.

I've been using Wind for about 1 year and it's ok. I get reception 99% of the time but sometimes I get dropped calls or I have to call a couple of times for the call to go though.

As for data, it's alright, I use a 9700 and sometimes BIS disappears and won't come back for 5-10min even though I try to reconnect back to the Wind network.

The limited amount of phone selection also sucks, I might get the LG Optimus 2x though and try that out.

Unlimited too :troll:

Actually since we're on the subject of wind.... Anyone have an issue where the person who you are talking to is complaining of short sharp high pitched noises almost like feedback? Doesn't happen all the time, but ~1x / 5-10 minutes? Personally, I won't hear it but apparently it's very noticeable to the call receiver.

Psykopathik 07-20-2011 08:34 AM

^^ have you ever heard your own voice? ;)

SkinnyPupp 07-22-2011 07:32 PM

It was my main source of internet for a month while waiting for them to connect my wired internet here at THE VILLAGE. Finally got it yesterday! It's slower than my phone's internet :okay:

nothing. You can roam on robers. Rumors were spread a long time ago that they'll install down there but nothing yet. Then again how much time do you really spend on the skytrain underground.
