There are two versions of Asahi Black. The labels are different.

BC liquor stores (about $3 each) sells bottles with Japanese labels and the Brewery Creek ($4.20 each) sells bottles with English labels from USA. I am still drinking my last batch which is the English label ones so no comparisons yet.

So good so ??? Hot pot serves Blacks for $5. They serve the BC liquor store ones. Ebisu sells Blacks for $7.20 but I don't remember which label.

Just got back from BC liquor store (no.3 & Ackroyd) and they had a stack of cases.

Cost is $63.60 + tax. I added in $1 to support Richmond Dry grad so my total after everything was $67.00.

Works out to be $2.80 per bottle.

*I just realized that there's no tax on here... Does BC liquor charge taxes????? I never actually looked at a receipt from them haha

I'll post back whether its japanese label or english label when I crack open the box tomorrow.

Nice, can you get individual bottles or in 6 or 12 packs instead of the 24 case?

No, they will only sell it as a case. I haven't opened up the box yet but I think they're single bottles, not packs which is why they only sell as a case.

Opened it up late last night to put a couple in the fridge.. It's a loose case of 24 so that's why liquor store doesn't sell them in smaller increments. Forgot to look at the label though, I'll confirm it tonight for you guys.

*edit confirmed Japanese labels. Not sure if it makes a difference though...

That would be the Japanese labels. The $95 case I bought at Brewery Creek had US English labels and it came with 6-pack carrying boxes. The BC liquor store ones are loose like a fireworks cake.

I will take a comparison photo when I have time this weekend.

BC Liquor prices are all tax included.

Edit: At least, that's what I'm told from my buddy that works there.

Probably because BC Liquor store vs. Independent liquor stores.

Just bought a case yesterday, downside is the best before date is August 2012. So I gotta make sure I down this case before then lol! And they are the JDM labels.

Creamier than the regular Asahi, a bit similer to Heineken Dark

For me, I prefer Santory Melt's
