Hey, all I did was suggest that he could go to any Vietnamese salon because they are likely to carry the product he is looking for and he insisted he didn't want to. I originally speculated at first but now I genuinely want to know why. What difference does it make if he goes to a white, Indian, Chinese, Bengali or Latino salon to buy what he wants? It is a known fact that Quantum is a salon exclusive and likely to be carried by mom and pop shops.

Joico Erratic, strong hold, easy to apply, easy to wash off, matte texture.
Try it out.

I've been going to Asian salons but I don't go for Asian styled cuts. My cut has been somewhat inbetween...

The stylist there has moved to a different salon, and I have followed her to her new place on King Ed/Oak. Her style is hybrid as well. Asian/Western. For a while in between I was going to Lucious in Yaletown, then to Sebastian 1, as the stylist from the former to the latter. He was very good as he had skills with old school Barbering and also modern styles. He moved out of BC, unfortuantely. I have since gone to a guy at Clementine for Hair on Cambie 14th area. He does tight fades and pays a lot of attention to his work. I like to try new places once in a while, as you can see, lol.
I have yet to find someone who is very versatile. The ones above that I have mentioned are very good in particular styles.

What's a good wax/putty/etc that gives a textured matte look with medium hold?

My cut has been somewhat inbetween... | If you're going for non-asian cuts, I would definitely recommend going to a barber or salon that is 'western'. Friend of mine went to an asian place to get a cut didn't like it, and 1-2 months later went to a barbershop and gave them the exact same picture as reference. Huge difference in how it turned out! After I stopped sporting asian hairstyles, I've been going to JD's barbershop in gastown and am always satisfied with their service (ask for Johnny or Travis).

i will never understand wax, i hate the feeling in my hands and my hair, although it usually smells amazing!
i use got to be glued when my hair is damp from the shower and about the size of my thumb nail, holds my hair nicely, it stays flexible and just goes back to where it was
same bottle for almost 2 years now |

Agree with a couple recent posters here,
Got2B is the best. Sticks awesome during the day. I haven't found anything that lasts this long. Been using it for almost 2 years.

It will take out anything you put on your hair. I don't suggest using it all the time unless you have product on your hair. Costs $20 but a little bit will go a LONG way.

Try Kenra Volumizing Shampoo or Redken High Rise, both available on Amazon. Personally I like Kenra more, it's cheaper and suitable for most hair types, especially oily ones, like mine. Also it does better effect then Redken, but the last one smells better for me. Here you can read more about it. Or you may just look for Dove Nutritive or Pantene Pro-V at the nearest local store, both seems fine for me too.

If anyone is looking for a matte finish wax that does not leave residue on your hair and washes off easily I highly recommend bedhead wax that can be found on the shelf of Shoppers. I think they go for $15 each. I'm quite picky with my hair products and I always end up going back to it after trying basically everything out there.
