[Release][Alpha2] CyanogenMod 9 Touchpad - RootzWiki

Alpha 2 Release notes:

This is for video playback fixes only, no other changes.
Fix netflix and other apps that rely on http live streaming
Fix blocky video due to bad scaling

Alpha 1 Release notes:

We finally have hardware video decode working largely thanks to some help from yjwong. This release is primarily just to get hardware decoding out for folks to enjoy while other work continues. This build does not work with Netflix yet. However, hardware accelerated video decoding does work for Youtube HD and playback of local media. This build still uses the 2.6.35 kernel. The 3.0 kernel is still being heavily worked on and is also the primary focus for development. Don't expect hardware video decoding to be perfect yet. Its half a miracle it works at all on our current kernel.

Similar to the last build I will provide flashable zips to make it easier to switch to lcd density 120 with proper launcher layout. The hardware video decoding will not make it into the nightlies for a few days. There is still some work to do in order to get it merged into repositories and ensure it doesn't break other devices.
Hardware video decoding support. As a result, Youtube HD and 720p and 1080p local media will now be playable. Netflix does not work yet.
Includes touchscreen improvements by Dees_Troy
Now able to enable use of 2D companion core to offload composition

I've played around with LCD density's and 120 was nice but i found 132 to be the best (also recommended by dalingrin) but it broke the Market. I think there's a LCD Density changer that lets you access the Market but I haven't personally tried.

Hmm USB debugging? I'm only familiar with enabling that if you're rooting or for developing (or debugging haha).

If you just want access to your files you can just enable MTP mode and it shows up fine on my computer. Mind you MTP is probably a little bit fussier when it comes to connections. I'm using Windows 7 with no problems, I know Mac is a different story.

As well if you don't want to boot into webOS you can also boot into CWM recovery and mount USB storage from there

Okay just so I can make sure we're on the same page.

In Settings under Storage. Hit the three dots on the top right and tap USB computer connection and you've enabled MTP there? I'm a bit confused because MTP and debugging are separate.

And I didn't install any additional drivers other than the ones needed for WebOS. Just for reference if that doesn't solve your issue.

Haha no problem. Ya they've really confused a lot of people moving to MTP-only in 4.0. Not only that, but they've buried the menu in settings and not enabled by default lol.

I would like to thank first and foremost the CyangenMod team for making this possible. Without the hard work of Dalingrin and all of the devs that have put their talents into this ROM we wouldn't have ICS. Thank you.

I would also like to thank Eyeballer for his unofficial nightlys for keeping us on the bleeding edge. Thank you.

its a long tutorial but i followed that one and it worked fine. after that initial install the later roms are easier to flash and it takes less than 5-10 mins.

I had to start fresh for it to work properly. But it's been smooth sailing since then. The nightlies have been awesome for me.

You don't really need to back up webOS as android is on a separate partition? or something along those lines.

do you have fear that one day the battery drains too low and touchpad won't boot?... Or have they fixed that issue on the CM9 nightly and are 100% reliable-meaning you can just plug wall charger and initiate reboot and charging?

Thats my only fear.
