Pretty sure td starts the lowest out of bank tellers and credit unions generally have a higher starting wage. 12-14~ to start Posted via RS Mobile |

if you are smart, you will find a bank that will pay for your financial education. I worked at JP Morgan Chase, and it was a waste of my time.
Honnestly, if you like money, move to Alberta. $6k/mo now

$15 - $17 per hour but you'll be working part-time hours since there's a bit of a seniority in terms of picking up hours.
I agree that one could move up particular fast if one shows initiative in cross-training and learning the other positions within the front-end staff.

My gf works at BMO and her full time salary as Teller was $30,000 / yr. She just got promoted to FSM1, and only makes $33,000.
After you factor in taxes and deductions, you don't really end up making much. And moving up the ladder takes a lot of hard work and patience. You get yelled at by dumbass customers who don't understand the concept of banks and fees, every single day, and your branch manager will rarely side with their colleagues, since priority is on customer service.
You gotta kiss a lotta ass in the banking business.
Just my POV.

Now, you have to analyze accounts and try to sell customers new products such as more expensive banking plans, credit cards, insurance policies, etc. Also, you're responsible for referring customers with extra cash to investment or lending specialists.
The requirements aren't that onerous - you need to be able to communicate, be able to handle sticky situations, and be able to sell.

All you need to do is ASK, and they will tell you. Quite simple

You'll most likely get the job if you have a referral. Most of my friends working as a teller had no prior experience.

I know coast capital starts at about 16/hr as customer service so I guess teller is around there. But I also hear HSBC is really strict in terms or the corporate ladder and yells at you a lot Posted via RS Mobile |

Sorry to bump an old thread.
Has the salary been around the same as 2 years ago? Or have they gone up?
Anyone been hired for a basic teller / CSR job lately?
