Lucky's Donuts/49th Parallel - creme brulee is always the best. Epic flavor and texture with a crunch.
cartem is shit.
lee opened a lot of locations so stevestion village is a good place to hit two birds with one stone.

My friend mentioned that his daughter has been on a baking spree so she's curious about all these baked goods.
For a point of reference, he's from Ottawa and one of their highly-rated donut shops, Suzy Q Donuts, is tough to beat. I told him to keep his expectations low. | https://www.creampony.ca - I haven't tried them yet but hear they are pretty good (their fried chicken is supposed to be quite good). They are replacing the Cartems on Main shortly. https://honeydoughnuts.com - This is the Deep Cove one that gets love from a lot of celebrities. It's a different style of donut so not for everyone, I can't recall how to describe it. Some LOVE it, some think it's totally overrated.
Deville coffee offers a cronut (croissant/donut) - not sure who makes it for them.

Can't beat the classics... esp when I make island deliveries just for Krispy Kreme.

I'll never know why people like Lee's Donuts (Granville Island), shitty donuts from Chinamen, about the same quality as Duffins on Knight Street. Chinese people should stick to their specialty and leave the donuts to the white fat folks. Can I fail you for listing Krispy Kreme?
One of the best ever is Goldie's at Horshoe Bay. Damn straight.
If you ever drive to Squamish, Fox and Oat is also da bomb!

Joking aside, I appreciate the Chinese for making their "yau tiu" donuts, and I agree, just leave it at that. Hundreds, if not, thousands of years of toiling in hot kitchens with scalding vats of oil to perfect the perfect fried fritter is all they needed for their claim to fame, not Western style donuts!
P.S. - Very classy of you to ask if you could fail someone on RS. Mad respect. Many on this forum have a lot to learn from you. |

Must be your move to Richmond. The racist God's are making their way into your psyche. Make sure you figure out that feng shui at your new place and to ward off the racist spirits!

Is Lees Donuts actually run by a Chinese guy? I always thought it was some White Guy with the last name Lee. Because you know, donuts. Maybe I'm a bit racist for thinking that.

Yep, they bought it in 2018 and their father is the owner/founder of Armando's Finest Meat's on Granville Island which has been around for 40 years. They may not be white but they're pretty much local considering their roots.
Myself, I love a fresh honey dip from Lee's and I think them and Duffin's both do a great job with those. Their other donuts are just ok though, they are not gourmet donuts by any means.

It's like a FIST of dough and it's BIG and healthy. Don't go there for just hte donut. GO there AFTER kayak / hike up quarry rock and it then become a bit more of a reward.
Luckily there are 2 more cafes opened within a block so it's not so bad to find an alternative.

They sell their dumplings frozen and I think their pan fried King dumplings might just be the best dumplings in town - they're like a combination of soup dumplings and potstickers. My wife immediately could tell that I went to my happy place when I had my first bite.
I haven't bought them b/c I'm not sure I can pan fry them as well as them.

One of the girls in the family of the new Lee's ownership is a smoke show
As a donut aficionado, I'd rank as the following:
1. Tie -- Fox & Oak (Squamish) & Lee's Granville (other locations are mid)
2. Duffins (surprisingly they have one of the best honey dips IMHO)
3. Lucky's (they've gone downhill lately)
4. Harmony Donuts in NV
5. Cream Pony
6. Honey's
7. Donut Love in Coquitlam
There's a few others that have cropped up (Vegas Donuts, and Neate by JJ Bean), but I haven't tried them yet.
I've omitted Mello because they suck.

X7 are typically rarer cars so I'm guessing it doesn't come up as much. For a vehicle that sells about 5000 units a year in Canada, it's a pretty high incidence rate.

They're more akin to creampuffs then that of donuts.

What’s the baseline for a donut for ranking? A honey dip? Old fashioned glazed?

On the other hand, they do have three offerings of traditional donuts, but they feel more like an afterthought because of some doofus cry baby who complained.
