Also, you can't even get a sienna if you wanted to. The wait list is years. Your only option is a honda, kia, or pacifica | When we were shopping for our minivan, the Toyota sales guy didn't even look up from his newspaper when we asked.
Went with the Oddy.

Went with the Oddy. | Hard to beat Toyota's name/reliability, AWD, and proven hybrid system. That's why we went for the Sienna.
We did go to Kelowna in the summer and it felt pretty underpowered up to Coq. with the Sienna fully loaded. Otherwise around town i'm getting about 7L/100km with it.

AWD was high on my list to have. But we couldn't wait 2 years. I'm getting about 15L/100km with the Oddy mostly city driving. With the V6, it's pretty responsive even fully loaded for camping.

Oh man, that is sad.
Lots of good memories growing up and having dim sum and attending weddings with friends/family at Floata.

we were literally just there on sunday for dimsum.
there were like maybe 15-20 groups there, not very full but not totally dead either.
the funny thing is we kept seeing people taking the plates and lazy susans, like literally the manager would give it to them and they would walk out.
now it all makes sense.. those were prob other restaurant owners coming to see what they could take.

The article seems to imply that the city wanted Floata to do some upgrade/renovations and Floata opted not to thus the lease was terminated. I haven't been there in a long time but it always felt really dated and the design of the space wasn't great (though there are compromises to holding a thousand people for events).
It's tough to be a viable restaurant if you need the space to be that big though - there's just not enough events that print money to cover for the losses otherwise.

^ significant amount in arrears.
“Despite ongoing engagement, the City did not receive a clear plan from Floata regarding its future operations,” stated the city in an Oct. 28 email. “In addition, the restaurant has accrued significant rent arrears, including unpaid amounts related to COVID-era rental support.”

Wow, after Victoria Chinese Restaurant closed this year as well, I don't think there's any more old school dim sum place in the entirety of the downtown peninsula (West of Main St) any longer.

Well the closest would be the the dynasty seafood on Broadway. That place is apparently rated as the best Chinese in all of Canada (debatable I think)

It's still one of my favorite places to go. Yea dim sum wise it isn't the best but it's decent enough, still has push carts, staff are nice, parking is easy, and the best part is despite it being busy I've never had to make a reservations and then had to wait more than 5 mins no matter the day and time.

The room is a pretty awkward layout though, not a fun place to hang.

Their dinner is pretty solid though.
I generally find Seaport City above Whole Foods a better spot for dim sum in that area.

Can't tell if you live in East Van, Richmond, or Kits. If you are riding everywhere, I expect you to have the physique of Tadej Pogačar.

Holy damn, Floata was a Chinatown institution! Sanitation issues doens't surprise me though, I've walked through their kitchen before lol. I guess there was simply too much needed to renovate and covid era debts to continue.
