I had no idea Parliament Hill was being rebuilt/renovated - it's a 10 year project.

well if you ever want to take someone out and have the least consequence, do it with a car. just claim they were in your blind spot and then the pedal got stuck. you see it all the time and people rarely serve serious time if any at all.

In real life, the guy did some time in a ward, and is now out and on meds. I wish we could skip the whole psychotic episode part and just keep these people on meds before people (including themselves) are hurt. Obviously people disagree with that.

anyone here a book keeper or accountant that knows about tax deductions?
My understanding is you can claim 100% of the "supplementary business insurance" of your car insurance as an expense.
But ICBC doesn't break out for you how much the "supplementary" portion is.
Anyone know what to do here?
I'm sure it's an easy answer since every self employed person in BC with ICBC insurance deals with this.

I'd call ICBC or contact a broker. Your accountant will need the exact amount and proof for admission of records to the CRA (should they request it).
None of my clients get supplementary business insurance via ICBC.. nor do they tell ICBC they use their cars for business LOL

Yes, apparently I need to go to a broker and get them to price it out without business use and then just calculate the difference.
I dunno, I think if you ever get in a situation where ICBC is questioning whether you have business insurance or not following a collision, all they have to do is ask if you are writing off vehicle expenses for tax purposes. Because there's ultimately a gigantic paper trail that confirms vehicle use for business purposes, the risk of not having the proper insurance doesn't seem worth the reward to me.

It's been on my bucket list to stay here a few nights with the GF as well over the holidays, do some skiing in the area as well.
The rooms are dated for sure, windows are tiny, but I think it's worth the price as a one-time experience.

Neither of us are into skiing/snowboarding. It would really just be about spending the day there, maybe walk around downtown Banff and have a nice dinner before heading home for the holidays.

Having spoken to friends and colleagues over the year, they have paid way more for a room at the Chateau Lake Louise during the Christmas holidays.

Elbows up | Just checked with a colleague who stayed there last year and I will quote him verbatim. "Paid $950 before taxes and fees. Went on Dec. 20. one and done. never again."
You can interpret that however you want to.

Paid over $500/night with lake view in 2020 when COVID discounts were in effect (visit within your home province). Yes it was AB, close enuff!
Trust me $450 is a deal. How much is one with a view? |

Ya they're right, I remember looking into a room there a few years ago and it was exactly around $1K per night during the holidays.
Our economy must really be in the shitter for them to drop the price by half.
