Where's MG1 been? He hasn't posted in almost a month. Hope he's okay. Maybe he went on another wicked cross country trip.

Anybody know what the cheapest Pay-As-You-Go plan is in Vancouver?

It's for my mom who barely uses any of her minutes, but it's convenient for her to have a phone. Basically, she's paying for credits with Rogers, if you buy $100, it'll last for a year. The roll-over minutes aren't even worth anything because she doesn't use them!

If it's a monthly top-up, it's $10 a month (even then, she won't use up all her minutes) - but that's another $20 a year she needs to spend.

Honestly, I think $100 a year is plenty cheap, but she's thinking of just getting rid of it (which will cause more headaches for me, tbh), so does anybody know of a cheaper plan?

I don't care for texting/voicemail because she won't use those things.

Thanks!

talk about a bad break up...

Fiery standoff in Kamloops; Surrey man presumed dead - News1130

KAMLOOPS (NEWS1130) - A man from Surrey is presumed dead after a fiery 6.5-hour standoff in Kamloops.

Mounties say the armed man broke into his ex-girlfriend's home around 5:20 p.m. yesterday. The 44-year-old woman was in the house with her new boyfriend and four children; two boys aged nine and 11, and two girls aged eight and 13.

RCMP say the suspect fired a shot into the ceiling and let everyone except his ex-girlfriend leave.

During negotiations, the man told police he was still distraught over their break-up two years ago. He also said he there were explosives wired to his body, in the home, and that there were other bombs wired to the gas tank of his vehicle and inside the van. The suspect is an electrician and described to the negotiatior how the bombs could be set off remotely.

The 48-year-old man released the woman around midnight, but shortly after, two explosions went off inside the home, causing a fire that began to spread dangerously close to the van. Not long after that, a third bomb went off inside the house.

RCMP waited nervously until firefighters were able to put out the flames. A bomb squad was able to disarm the remaining explosives, likely saving several lives.

The house is now a pile or rubble; investigators are looking for the suspect's remains. His name hasn't been released.

I hope the rest of its family is OK. There have been a lot of mother ducks crossing roadways recently, with the ducklings in tow. I saw one at the foot of the No. 2 Rd bridge last week - hopefully she wasn't relocating because of being displaced by the nearby River Green development.

There are starter bird pellets you can buy...but no one is going to sell a small amount for just a guest that stays for a few days.

They will eat grass and love dandelion leaves. Instead of leaving a bowl of water for it, just fill up a large tub with water and some way for it to get in or out and it will drink and swim at the same time. Not to mention, be crazy adorable to watch.

I grew up on a small hobby farm and we had cows, chickens a donkey and because of my sister, one singular sheep, but my favorites were the ducks and geese.

I had 2 pet geese that I raised from two days old and they were so much fun. They identified with me and would come running and trying to fly across the yard to me.

Gridlock 05-19-2012 08:26 AM

Going to add...tons of water, like a lot. They actually eat and drink at the same time to aid in digestion. And don`t hand feed it, as you want it to go back to the "wild", as wild as we get in a city.

We actually trained a duck to play fetch. So much fun. You can buy ducklings and goslings for like $5, and its seriously the best money to spend on an animal. So expensive to winter them though...that food is so expensive when you are 12 man and they shit through it like its not even there.
