So I'm currently looking for places to rent and the ads are asking for 1 year leases, 6 months etc.

Can someone school me on what I need to know about a lease? Is it basically a contract where I have to live there for the required time?

thats exactly what it is, so you can't decide you don't like it in two months and move out.

That's what i figured. So lets say that scenario does happen. Will I be "required" to pay a fee? Or will it depend on the landlord?

You can get out of a lease early, but there are rules and there may be additional costs.

If a tenant ends a fixed-term tenancy early without the landlord’s permission, the tenant may have to reimburse the landlord for costs of re-renting the unit – like advertising or lost rent. The landlord must do their best to limit these costs by trying to rent the unit as soon as possible. Sometimes a fixed-tenancy agreement includes a “liquidated damages” term that requires the tenant to pay to end the tenancy early.

A tenant may ask the landlord for written permission to sublet or assign the tenancy agreement to someone else.

haven't been given anything. Currently just browsing and most ads are stating theres a X amount of time for the lease.

expect to sign this lease. It's a template from the government.

you don't have to physically live there for the required time, but you are responsible for paying them rent for the required time.

Has anyone use sit happens for puppy training? I don't see much reviews about them other then they use a electronic collars (they call it remote collars and say it is not a shock collar). There is price pretty high but would like feedback if anyone has use them.

Today Houston is experiencing "unprecedented" weather in many parts of the city. Flooding is...well...everywhere

I live within walking distance of NASA's Johnson Space Centre ("Houston" in "Houston, we have a problem") and aside from some wet socks, we're doing ok down here. (Down here meaning I'm living in the South-East part of the city. If Houston were displayed on a clock, I'd live at the 5'o'clock mark) Other places aren't doing so well.



Things are bad for a lot of people, and terrible for the animals. This little guy is going straight from the flood to a warmer place...



...which would be somebody's oven. If you can't get to the grocery store you still gotta eat right?


Things is bad in some places.

But the real tragedy is the loss of this Honda


I've pulled these together from the Houston subreddit. A lot of places have closed operations today and told their employees to stay home. Not mine though. Unless you want to use vacation time to stay home. Then you're perfectly welcome to.

I'm lucky but I know there are a bunch of people out there who aren't. There wasn't a lot of warning for this one and it didn't get bad here until late last night. I hope that the worst of it has passed though.

I'll keep y'all posted.

Anyone have experience with CT tire warranty? Worth it at $7 per tire? Looking to pick up a set of Pirelli P7s after 60k kms on my previous set.. Quoted for 880 without the warranty and 920 with them.

I think it depends on how and how often you drive. Personally I skipped it on my X6, because I rotate between a few cars.

Also I find service of CT is actually pretty good.

Any 2nd level resellers like 7-11/ PetroCanada or PC will be cheaper than the big 3s.

Vancouver votes to permanently close part of Robson Street to traffic - British Columbia - CBC News

They're closing off Robson, between Howe and Hornby to be a permanent no-traffic zone.
