For Chinese food... are they more into traditional Chinese/Cantonese food, or the new style luxury Chinese food? Mott/QJD falls into the latter camp.
For the first style, traditional Cantonese fine dining, I'd suggest Neptune Palace on Marine and Cambie, or Dynasty on Broadway. | Quote:

Personally I prefer the traditional Cantonese Seafood restaurants like roastpuff suggested, so something like Dynasty or SeaHarbour in Richmond is more up my alley. | I think for Chinese food I’ve narrowed it down to mott and QJ. Mott (to me) has a more appetizing menu where as QJ has the Michelin star factor. I don’t care about the stars and awards but they might.
I’m steering away from traditional Chinese food because the majority of them, including my parents ate traditional Chinese their whole lives. It would be nice introduce them to modern twist on Chinese fine dinning. I don’t think they’ll ever go seek out it out themselves.

Not sure if June is recent enough for you though, considering the 30% tariffs just kicked in on Aug 1. | At the risk of sounding like I have my head stuck in the sand...
Did the percentage just go up or did it include new things like car parts? Quote:

How is rock auto ever worth it? If you’re not ordering weight?
When I was looking for pads and rotors it ended up being like 150% of lordco prices? Presumably due to the weight of the rotors?

Rockauto is worth it if you're not ordering heavy stuff to Canada. Filters, hard to source parts, etc are cheaper than Lordco/NAPA by at least 30-50%
Brakes and rotors are also a lot cheaper than locally for certain cars, and if you ship to Bellingham/Pt Roberts, it's not that expensive.

Even with shipping for heavy parts I can get better brand names for cheaper from RockAuto than I can at the local stores. The only time they're cheaper is if it's some shit brand I've never heard of.

But for everything I have gotten, literally half price of lordco, and often for a better brand choice.

Rockauto for virtually anything else if you're trying to stick within a budget. Just watch the shipping costs and try to select parts that ship from one warehouse.

Yea never really looked at them before outside of brakes, and the costs didn’t make sense even for the cheapo rotors etc.

Not amazing, but good. The peking duck (order it 24 hrs in advance) was carved tableside, so a bit of a show.
It was just expensive. Very expensive.
I dont know if Chinese are like Indian parents, but if I took my parents there, no matter how good it is, they'd focus entirely on how much it cost relative to the value received, thus would judge it accordingly, haha.

They are by far the best steakhouse in the city.
