Pretty much summed it up. They've even done their homework and attend all the autoshows to advertise for their company. At the end of the day, the only beef I have is that I didn't think of it first before them!

SR's roots go all the way back to Revolution racing. They have very strong roots as tuners. They were very supportive of the community back in the day, lots of civics and integra type R's got modded lol
Lately I noticed that their business model changed to more boutique/high end customers.
I think a lot of negative comments have more to do with hatemongering and class-warfare lol.
I say that they earned their pedigree and good luck for them if their clientele puts them on easy street.

I think they earn a larger profit from selling high end wheels and accessories vs a smaller margin from tuning cars.

I mean lets say u tune a car at $100/hr times 8 hours. A good tech costs $40 per hour so u make 60x8 = $480 profit from tuning minus overhead.
Well, one rich chinaman buys a wheel set at $15k, ur profit is lets say 20% at $3,000. Even if u r sales spends all day lapping his tiny asian balls, at $20/hr x 8 hours is $160, u r still way ahead in profit.

look, how many of you would play with sideswipe if he was a civic? U think he's cool cuz he's a lambo.

Be happy for this local success story.
I think the reason for the hate is not because of some disparity between the rich and the poor (which for some reason, someone here always thinks all hate are rooted from the fact that people are jealous of the rich)

But the hate is rooted from the fact that they claim themselves as a tuner when they do not do engine or drivetrain mods. They might've done it in the past, but certainly not now. It's a misleading title to brand to a company.

Sure, they have a past in tuning civics and integras, but actually tuning and upgrading parts on a 300,000 exotic is different story. It requires a level of expertise and equipment that is above your everyday garage. You don't take your Lamborghini to mr lube for an oil change do you?

Claiming that you tune exotics when all you do a cosmetic mods is a disgrace to actual tuners (which have years of experience and expertise that are beyond the skill of everyday garages) of Ferraris and other exotics IMO.

Why is it sad?

SR is probably the most expensive shop he can find local and he is more of a friend to Cyrus than a customer.

The owner of the cars deal with SCC in China which is probably one of the most reputable groups as well.

I've seen cars in their showroom for sale @ the location by Kits.

In my eyes, they are not true tuners. They do mod cars though.
If you want something, they can order it in for u. If it's simple, they'll do the install.
If not, they source the work to another shop.

Their guys in the back aren't gonna build your engine, that's for sure.

Expensive, I guess.
Skilled, not in regards to technical work.

I totally understand bringing an R8 to SR for rims and vinyl, there is a place for a business that specializes in cosmetics in the marketplace. A Reventon and a Zonda are beyond the level of exotic cars though, they are true super cars and should be worked on by those with a deep understanding of the function, not just the form. That's just my opinion of course.

Of course, agreed and understand where your standpoint is,

but then again looking at history SR has been here for a long time so they are probably one of the most qualified locally.

also they are probably the people who has worked with the MOST exotics and MOST expensive cars local and like I said I am sure there are more than a customer to business relationship and more of a friend to friend relationship.

Totally, SR is somewhat of a club, not just a business.

I think a lot of people go to them to be apart of that.

How has no one ever asked...

Are they a front?

A business, with no real product, that no one really knows what they do. It's a possibility.

they have a business model that works.

they found their niche in the market.

i dont see anything wrong with that.

those old enough to understand and been thru the aftermarket aftersales auto industry, through its changes, understand that surviving this many years, means either you got a working business model, or you are quick enough to adapt to change, thus, a good working business model.

I guess they found an opportunity for more $$$ and to have a reputation with working on exotics and jumped on it.
