| SR Auto question
I'm kinda confused about SR auto. They seemed to get mentioned quite often here on RS. So are they a tuning shop or are they a dealer? the cars in their show room, are those for sale or customers car? if they are customers car, how come the customers don't take them home?

I think the cars at the showroom are customer's. Not sure why they would leave em at the showroom but yea. Maybe when they go on vacation or something it would be a good idea but hmmmmm

I know they are PRIMARILY a tuner. I don't think they have a dealer licence to sell cars officially, although I may be wrong.
The other thing I've heard is that they survive mainly on a very small and close knit customer base.
They've been super nice and friendly on the occasion that I have stopped in to inquire about wraps.

I don't view SR auto as a tuning shop, if that were the case they'd be building exotics with UndergroundRacing level modifications. SR is a customization shop, they specialize in little touches like vinyl wrap and wheels that add a touch of uniqueness to customers vehicles.
Speed Syndicate and Racing Greed are tuning shops.

^I think they do like little modifications to engines. Exhaust systems and all that simple stuff. Quote:

i think SR auto does do performance mods but not sure if they actually sourced it out... there was an article in The Vancouver Sun (maybe 24?) interviewing the owner of SR Auto.
btw, I am sure Matt Zhang can answer your question |

yea i dunno if they are a true 'tuner' in terms of doing performance mods.. but bear in mind in Europe the term 'tuner' also refers to simple wheel and aesthetic mods too.

What's with the hate? Last I've seen the stickers they put on their client cars says "designed by SR".... and that's pretty much what they're doing.
SR is just taking advantage of those rich kids/guys who are willing to pay above retail for wheels and wraps (instead of getting it done themselves). Easy money for them.

The last time I remembered... SR put a supercharger kit on a S5 for a customer which was sourced out to Speed Syndicate.

If they just put on stickers and rims for peoples car, and all their cars are customers car, why do all their customers park their car in their show room pretty much all year around? Such as the reventon? Everytime I walk by there I see the same cars in their showroom behind Ferrari dealer.

The guys at SR are all very friendly and knowledgeable.
SR's roots go all the way back to Revolution racing. They have very strong roots as tuners. They were very supportive of the community back in the day, lots of civics and integra type R's got modded lol
Lately I noticed that their business model changed to more boutique/high end customers.
I think a lot of negative comments have more to do with hatemongering and class-warfare lol.
I say that they earned their pedigree and good luck for them if their clientele puts them on easy street.
I think they earn a larger profit from selling high end wheels and accessories vs a smaller margin from tuning cars.
I mean lets say u tune a car at $100/hr times 8 hours. A good tech costs $40 per hour so u make 60x8 = $480 profit from tuning minus overhead.
Well, one rich chinaman buys a wheel set at $15k, ur profit is lets say 20% at $3,000. Even if u r sales spends all day lapping his tiny asian balls, at $20/hr x 8 hours is $160, u r still way ahead in profit.
look, how many of you would play with sideswipe if he was a civic? U think he's cool cuz he's a lambo.
Be happy for this local success story.

7seven: I really can't stand all these idiots who hit the gym now just because they watched 300 and want to be like a spartan. Case in point, this skinny guy comes into the gym the other day, must have only weighed ~ 140lbs, loads on 2 plates on the bench rack, mutters to himself, for sparta, unracks the barbell and proceeds to drop it directly on his chest.

Speed Syndicate does some of the performance stuff for some of the SR customer cars, like the Merc mentioned.

A lot of us don't like them because they are paid to be a middle man to do something most of us can do sitting on our asses and lying in bed. But IMO there is a place for them because there are a lot of people who want a better looking car but know nothing at all about aftermarket parts. Bolt patterns, hub bore, offsets, and tire size might be simple for us but I can see how it can be a nightmare for others
