Used with warranty.

If you go on Craiglist, some people are selling for $100-120 still.

For $200, you should be able to get a 280X + a 15 pack of beer

so my wifi was acting up and needed to be reset, upon doing so my tablet would still lose connection with my 2.4ghz connection, everything else can connect to the 2.4ghz just fine -__-

and after losing connection with the 2.4ghz connection once more, the 2.4ghz connection simply disappeared from my tablets list of wifi connections!

the 5ghz connection is still there and i can connect to it just fine, the only issue with the 5ghz is the range... -_-

so when im in my room i use my phone to connect to the 2.4ghz connection and hook the phone up to my tablet :/

i've tried resetting my router again, rebooting my tablet, and reinstalling my drivers/hardware on the tablet for the adapter....still nothing :/

any ideas? i can see other 2.4ghz connections just not my own -_-

and yes my ssid is broadcasting

edit: fixed it, used wifi-analyzer, to find the best channel for my 2.4ghz to be on, after switching channels the connection reappeared on my tablet for now i guess

Having some stability issues with my 930, will boot up pat bios then basically lose my display. Monitor will flash like its getting signal, kind of hang then flash the resolution message again like the signal is intermittent

Usually on the second reset problem goes away but kind of annoying :/

Hey guys,

I have a MSI R9 270X 2gb video card. I'm hoping to find some deals during Black Friday so I can upgrade for Fallout 4.

Would moving to a GTX970 4gb be worth it?

Is there a recommended card that I should consider if I don't want to upgrade every 1-3 years?

Thanks

Downside to the predator is the pump and radiator design makes it hard to fit in some cases due to the design being different than most of the other AIO water coolers.

But seriously it looks like the way to go if you want to add watercooling to your GPU too.

yeah, wait for the new cards next year that will usher in a lot of new tech (die shrink, new high bandwith memory)...they'll likely be relevant for a solid 4-5 years. Most cards are only good for around 24 months unless you time it really well (but that may also mean paying a bit of premium)

So it's that time of year again, my dads bday, I was thinking about buying him some new video cards

He had crossfired 7970's and those were holding up pretty well even for current games, but 1 of the 7970's died recently, just outside the 2+1 year(CC) warranty period

So I was thinking about getting him two nvidia 980 ti's

Or saving some cash and getting him 1 amd, that can run crossfire with the 7970?, until Christmas

although I haven't heard him complain about running a single 7970...

Anyway I'd love suggestions, I was checking out tomshardware and they seem to say the Fury X is better for 4K gaming than the 980ti's but the Fury X's take up too much space with the radiators?

edit: oh right, it's also new video card time isn't it? blegh...maybe i should just get him something else -_-

Get an i5. The hyper threading from an i7 won't make any difference when gaming.

Okay, so I decided on the 980 ti

Should I get the
Asus Strix OC ASUS GeForce GTX 980 Ti Strix 1317MHZ 6GB 7.2GHZ GDDR5 DVI HDMI 3XDISPLAYPORT PCI-E Video Card - STRIX-GTX980TI-DC3OC-6GD5-GAMING or

EVGA Gaming SC EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB SC+ GAMING ACX 2.0+ 1102MHZ Boost 1190MHZ Graphics Card - 06G-P4-4995-KR or

MSI's http://www.ncix.com/detail/msi-gefor...13226-1445.htm it's the cheapest

I was looking at the benches and the asus is like 2-5fps average faster, no biggie, my question is more about the brands ASUS vs EVGA vs MSI, who uses better components, has better QC, etc.

any tips?

i'd just base it on whatever is cheapest/has the quietest fan under load
EVGA has slightly better resale value/service if that matters to you

ended up with the Asus

the MSI was only in stock at the richmond warehouse, i was sold on it, when i saw the badge stating it used military spec capacitors

but i would have had to have gone with the asus anyway, i think my dad knew what i was going to get him and he hinted that he wanted the asus

The NCIX out in Surrey has a security guard, and turnstyles, with a narrow entrance
just so different from what im used to when going to any other ncix

cute chicks working there though

Get a DDR3 build. Get a cheaper case (N200 comes to mind). Cut the Windows.

That should save you enough to get you a much better video card.

a DDR3 build will be about the same price, since im getting a bundle deal for the cpu, mobo and ram. This might be a dumb question but how do i cut the windows? I dont really wanna torrent it. I do go to UBC and i heard that they have deep discounts for some microsoft products.

Intel Core i5-4460, Asus GeForce GTX 970, Cooler Master N200 - System Build - PCPartPicker Canada

For what you're going to be doing, you don't need much. A B85 chipset will be fine for you and I've have good experiences with ASRock motherboards.

This should all be around your $1200 budget. If you want to save a little more money, you can get the non-modular version of the Corsair 500W.

Only recommendation I would do is cough up some money for a few extra fans (Rosewill Hyperboreas from Newegg) and/or a Hyper 212 heatsink.

I can hook you up with a copy if you give me a 8GB thumb drive to install it on. If not, if you know any Computer Science students, they can probably get a copy of Windows for like <$10 through their department.

so im thinking about picking up a 165hz ips monitor on black friday (hopefully theyre on sale) i know the asus and acer use the same panels but asus has a tonne of QC issues from the threads im reading

anyway i digress, any word on if we'll see 4K 144hz or more monitors soon? when i google the twomterms im only getting results comparing 60hz 4K with 1440p 144hz screens...so im assuming, no.

doesn't exist...may be some will be revealed at CES after the holidays

i have not compared 60Hz G-Sync/Adaptive-Sync vs 120Hz+ but I think the former is far more attainable even likely with next-gen GPUs...4K at high fps will be ridiculously taxing for years to come.

I just dream of a curved 21:9 4K with variable refresh rate and no backlight bleed

Back again, didn't end up buying the evga gtx 960. Thinking of getting this MSI one that's on sale currently.

MSI GTX 960 GAMING GeForce GTX 960 2GB PCI-E w/ DVI, HDMI, Triple DP at Memory Express

How do I know if my motherboard has 1 dual width x16 graphics slot? Dual width just means having 2 slots at the back of the tower? I apparently have a 460W power supply and this card requires a minimum 400W. Does that mean my power supply is good to go or would I need atleast a 600W PS when it runs on high load? Total noob at this lol..

yeah it's a standard video card thickness which will take up two slots in the back of the tower.
400W takes into account full load...you're gtg

deal only seems so-so? i haven't kept up with the pricing since our dollar tanked
