Humble Bundle (and similar deals) thread

Humble Bundle is back, again. This time they have Frozen Synapse, and if you pay more than the average (right now, it's $4.51), you will also get the Frozen Bundle which includes Trine, Shadowgrounds, Shadowgrounds: Survivor, Splot, and Jack Claw. They are all cross-platform, and DRM-Free. You can also redeem them from Steam, Direct2Drive, and Desura. I don't think 5 bucks would even get you one of these games on Steam.

I got the last Humble Bundle, and was pleased with the content and price, so I'll probably get this one, too.

Check it out:

Please post other similar deals!

I know I'm bumping a pretty old thread but I thought it would be nice to let everyone know that the Humble Bundle is back again! This time, the lineup is insane:

- Amnesia: The Dark Descent
- Psychonauts
- LIMBO
- Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP
- Bastion (if you pay more than the average)

And the charities are:
- The Electronic Frontier Foundation
- Child's Play

Yeah the current one is great.

Razor Ramon HG 06-07-2012 01:37 AM

Amnesia, Superbrothers, and Bastion are all great games. Not sure about Psychonauts and LIMBO though.

:rukidding: @ Limbo and :fulloffuck: @ Psychonauts

I mainly bought this Humble Bundle about a week ago for Psychonauts, then I started playing the Swords and Sworcery EP. I love it. It's done in a 16-bit graphic design, but for some reason, it just looks better to me than a lot of stuff I've seen lately, I'm a sucker for design. I can't get LIMBO to work, which isn't a huge deal thought.

SkinnyPupp 06-07-2012 06:46 AM

I wonder if it's better than the ipad version, because I played that one, and found the "game" parts (where you time taps) to be annoying

yogenfruz 06-07-2012 12:51 PM

So they just added a few more games to the Bundle. If you've already purchased it, you can just used your personal Humble Bundle link to get them where you downloaded the other ones.

I think I'm gonna start reviewing the Bundle games as I beat them so people know if it's worth getting. I'm likely going to be buying the next bundles as long as the games are of my interest/stuff I've played and wanted to replay.

Lone Survivor 9/10 - Minimalistic story, creepy "zombie" side scrolling puzzle game. Reminded me of Silent Hill if it were on the NES/SNES. The art style looks 8-bit, but each "pixel" is actually detailed to look like a ceramic tile. As far as gameplay goes, it's all arrow keys and the keyboard for hotkeys.
Braid 7/10 - Platforming puzzle game with a pretty decent story with a couple of plot twists. Involves nothing but puzzles, some that I actually had to youtube to figure out. Controls are arrow keys along with space for jump and shift for time reversal. Very simple to use.
Amnesia: Dark Descent 10/10 - Still my favourite horror game to date. Awesome story, great sense of helplessness and fear. Overall, I think this game alone is worth it. Graphics are also great, especially monster designs. Gameplay isn't the easiest to master right away. I remember when I first played though the game I'd find myself trying to run, but accidently pressing my inventory or the "lean" keys. Works once you get it, sucks when you don't.
Swords & Sworcery 8.5/10 - Not quite through it yet, but I love it. It's a cool story with modern day quirks of twitter and facebook thrown into the mix. There's no integration with facebook, however, you can tweet anything that is said in the game as it is being said. This game is played completely point and click. The "battle" sequences are composed of you facing the enemy and having a sword and shield buttons on screen. You must click these to use them.

Limbo would not work, and I don't have a controller to play Psychonauts on my laptop right now, however I did try playing with arrow keys and a mouse, but there's just too many hotkeys that I found I was constantly moving my hands around. Definitely meant for a console in my opinion.

Thanks. Bonus games are always a treat.

Just wondering how much you guys donated and how you guys distributed it. I donated $10 all to charity.

I did 10$ as well, I know I put it all to charity. I might give some to devs next time depending on the charity.

SkinnyPupp 06-18-2012 09:14 PM

I always donate directly to Child'a Play

SkinnyPupp 03-19-2013 04:43 PM

Too bad Bastion has been available for $1 many times :fuckthatshit:

Presto 05-30-2013 06:35 PM

This week's Humble Weekly looks pretty good!
The Humble Weekly Sale: Telltale Games (pay what you want and help charity)

It's games from Telltale games, which includes Back to the Future, Sam and Max, and if you donate more than the average ($4.11 currently), you'll also get Walking Dead. I think the cheapest I've seen Walking Dead is $8 or $9 bucks.

SkinnyPupp 05-30-2013 07:23 PM

It's worth it for Walking Dead

Don't really like their other games though TBH

bobola 05-30-2013 11:45 PM

+9000 for Walking Dead

Dont even watch the series and I still love the gameee
Not sure if they're related tho

yogenfruz 05-31-2013 06:45 AM

Minimally related from what I've seen of the show. It was probably the best game, storywise, I've played in years.

Bastion is worth many times that.

Preemo 05-31-2013 03:40 PM

Telltale killed the point and click side of adventure games with their own weird ass controls.

Humble Bundle 9 is live, and they're back to the cross-platorm, DRM-free goodies:

I'll probably throw in the minimum for Trine 2

SkinnyPupp 09-11-2013 05:46 PM

Yeah I am interested in Fez, and I liked Trine until the last level.

The latest Humble Bundle is a Warner Bros pack of games:

lilaznviper 11-05-2013 03:54 PM

time to play some batman

SkinnyPupp 11-05-2013 04:23 PM

Keep in mind that they no longer give you Steam keys, they will add the games directly to your library. At least that's how it was with the last bundle.

I already have both Batmans, I guess I'll pick it up for Fear 2 and 3?

Edit: Oh look, you can gift the keys instead now
