correct, all the droids with keyboards havent been great, the one that was great is two years old. We might not see physical keyboards anytime soon or ever on future top of the line androids.

If this was released earlier, it still be relavent news. people forgot about it, and then moved on to iPhones and Androids

i bet u it wont happen. Google will not license them unless they dedicate a berry for android

Wow.. BIS is now really messed up. Now affecting NA customers.

Personally I find I can type way faster and more accurately on the physical keyboard, which is key as I use BBM/PIN/emails on my phone a lot for work. Touch screen typing annoys me.

My BBM/BIS/Push emails have been restored now, been working for the last 25mins.

i do miss the physical keyboard, but like a lot of things in life! once u adapt, the results are sometimes great!

I'm much more efficient on a QWERTY

still not working for me. i gave up and started using my 3gs..

I find I can type just as fast on a touch screen keyboard. Especially with smart keyboard pro being able to add my words to its dictionary, it'll fix my typing mistakes on the fly

My BB's data is still down. On Bell network. Not happy!

I'm on Bell too, been working since 11:30ish.

Derek_N84 10-12-2011 02:13 PM

Rogers BB here ..my emails are incoming now but I still can't send mail out, its killing me here.

All my data apps are down minus Bloomberg which is odd and my browser has been working this whole time?

On the upside ..with no bbm I've been extremely productive today haha

If BIS is down then bbm is down.

Broswer still works because it doesn't rely on BIS.

It is just like if your phone wasn't a blackberry and you have data.

Except a lot of people have been reporting (no data)...no browsing, no using of data restrained apps, obvs no bbm or enterprise.

Samsung's ChatON messaging service brings free texting to Android, iOS and BlackBerry (video) -- Engadget

parm104 10-12-2011 02:58 PM

LOL I guess all the good names were gone...ChatON.

...Also looks like jazzed up Whats App. A few more features but essentially the same thing; from what it looks like at least.

Doesn't all data get routed through RIM's servers? Regardless of what app it is for compression and caching? My friends have no browsing, no whatsapp, nothing.

I think this is true,
becuz i'm part of this whatsapp group in which I'm the only nonberry person...the group is dead lol

Ulic Qel-Droma 10-12-2011 04:54 PM

my browsing was fine all day. all other services didnt work though.

whatsapp no.

msn/gtalk worked for about 2 hours then went down.

browsing yes.

The_AK 10-12-2011 06:53 PM

my friend said it best,
rim after this week will only be known as rimjob

parm104 10-12-2011 07:41 PM

I don't understand this inability to use Whats App...Is it because you guys still had data enabled and not wifi? I was under the impression that Whats App is not data dependent??

Spidey 10-12-2011 07:44 PM

still nothing for me.. i have wifi on, so some stuff like browsing works.. but no emails.. bbm is a lost cause... and some/most apps no work... annoying but not the end of the world.. hope they get it resolved though.

PornMaster 10-12-2011 07:53 PM

RIM is trolling us and seeing what happens if they go bankrupt :'(

roastpuff 10-12-2011 07:54 PM

Wifi works, but when I'm in the car no Google Maps, no browsing, no email...

My "upgrade" time is here, I might go to a Galaxy S2 or a Nexus Prime instead. The 9900 is not that attractive to me, and the dependency of BB on BIS' servers is really annoying.

PiuYi 10-12-2011 07:59 PM

NOTHING. ALL DAY.

LiquidTurbo 10-12-2011 08:00 PM

First world problem lol.

But seriously that really sucks. It takes a lot for something like this to happen. Wonder if they'll release any details.
