RIM's Next Big Move...

RIM to Show Off BBM on Android Phone Later This Month?

According to this article, RIM will be making a special announcement later this month at their BlackBerry DevCon that ACTUALLY will change messaging as we know it.

BBM on the Android platform is rumoured to be announced. If this happens, Apple's iMessage will surely be a lesser rival than previously expected.

im down for bbm on android, wasnt there rumour of this floating around these boards earlier this year?

Slightly off topic, but on yahoo's news the other day RIM was supposedly ranked the #1 employer in Canada.

RIM has always been considered to be an attractive employer due to their work atmosphere and high salary. Theyve been in the top 50 for quite a while now.. That being said, their culture is kinda fcked up atm.. but it doesn't stop them from hiring hundreds of interns from schools every term.. i've heard good experiences from most ppl that have worked at RIM

You missed the joke...I guess you can't see the irony of having an employer who has recently been in the media for laying off hundreds of employees and at the same time being one of the best companies to work for...Do you see that irony? That is why it's funny....Hence my comment.

Have you talked to anyone who has been laid off from Rim? Have you not read the many publicized letters of disgruntled RIM employees talking about how bad the company's operations are..."culture is kinda fucked up at the the moment." Well at the moment is what we're talking about...sure they may have been a delight to work for in the past when they were thriving but what about now?

Take a look at the most recent ratings by employees:

Rate My Employee

It doesn't look like people are very pleased with their work @ RIM.

I don't understand why RIM would put bbm on another platform other than blackberry
wouldn't they lose money? People would just start buying driods over berrys
One of the main reasons to get a blackberry is for the bbm/email and security
Doesn't make any sense to me

Cause it won't be free. It'll be a subscription type service of course.

PiuYi 10-06-2011 01:19 AM

or it would be licensed out to android? google can pay RIM a load of cash for use of its bbm and RIM sure as hell can use the cash for some R&D

don't think droid users r keen on paying for bbm when they have whatsapp, etc.

dr.funk 10-11-2011 12:47 PM

whatsapp is not that great had it on my droid for a month

Been using it for many years now...Droid and iOS....works without a glitch and I love it. What were you complaints about it?

!MiKrofT 10-11-2011 01:08 PM

Same.. Been working great for me. I can literally count the number of times it's been down on 1 hand which is pretty good.

!Yaminashi 10-11-2011 01:10 PM

^Agreed with these guys, pretty reliable app to me. The only time its down is when their servers are down, and they're pretty quick to get it fixed

dr.funk 10-11-2011 01:19 PM

I think im just so used to bbm cuz all my friends had bbm and not a lot of them used what app maybe im just being narrow minded guess i will give it another shot since you guys say its a good app

josayeee 10-11-2011 04:20 PM

If you are used to bbm what's app seems so unreliable in comparison. I've had what's app on my iphone 4, 9780, abd 9900

UPDATE: Blackberry Service Beginning To Be Restored Across Europe

Some BlackBerry users report issues with BBM service - CTV News

....YUP.

josayeee 10-11-2011 05:02 PM

Big whoop it happend to be down this week in europe and the middle east. The media will post anything it can about blackberry because people will read it. The media doesnt give a shit when whatsapp goes down. No one will read it. Bbm wasnt down for me here. I carry an iphone and a blackberry around on the same network.

6insomnia9 10-11-2011 05:04 PM

Exactly. No one gives two shits about whatsapp?

No one I know who has a blackberry even bothers using other instant messaging wannabe apps like that shit cause they know bbm is orignal and everything else is just another copy cat.

Fut you blackberry haters.

Go shit on your devices
