you posted an article about a woman getting hit by a car because she was riding too far to the right (leaving space for traffic) nothing in your post or the article was about having a dedicated bike lane 1 block away Quote:
i could swear you just bitch for the sake of bitching on here... as for your first comment voting based on the reasoning of what a mayor has done for particular segments of the population (your segment it would seem since you attest to being a cyclist) isn't idiotic at all.... it's actually the proper way to decide if a candidate will be beneficial to you or the communities needs.. "what will he do for the city..." and then you're bitching about how bike lanes won't work because there's not enough of them.... lol wtf? are you for it or against it? if you're against it your reasoning shouldnt be "there isn't enough of them to be useful", vote him in so he can give you more bike lanes then... i don't live in vancouver anyway so i didn't vote Gregor in, but i'm glad he got his post once again |

Well, I'm not surprised that Gregor and his cronies won again. I was hoping for more accountability and openness with at least any different party. Blasting public funds for his personal interests without public consultation is absurd. |
I love the "public safety" question. $13 million to fire halls and police upgrades. $35 million to "civic offices". Um... how are civic offices PUBLIC SAFETY?!?!?!?!!?! or the $65 million for "transit and infrastructure" where 60% of it goes to bridges and streets... something like 15% of it to "greenways" so... more fucking "traffic calming devices" aka roundabouts with dying shrubs in them. Fucking retarded voters. The $68 million for parks, libraries, community centres and recreational facilities with $40m allocated to that portion of it, I'm less against. Some of the pools and ice rinks are in definite need of upgrades and repair. And I do actually use them. |

I don't understand why the city has to borrow for infrastructure. They should be getting gas tax transfers and using that for infrastructure. I posted this recently: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=49.244987,-123.162886&spn=0.00155,0.004128&sll=49.245985,-123.161041&sspn=0.006198,0.016512&vpsrc=6&t=h&z=19 Go by this intersection and see the improvements the city paid to make. They widened the sidewalks, narrowed the street, made a corner harder to navigate, put a divider in the street, ... all to make crossing the street safer cause there's a school nearby. Makes sense, until you realize only a handful of students actually cross here. I drive past this everyday, so I got to see how many city workers were wasted on this for 3 months this summer! If this is what they are borrowing for, its a complete waste. |

Like Cope-lite did four years ago, the NPA should dismantle and rebrand itself under a new name and get some brighter and more articulate candidates who will actually stand for something. |

Having Suzanne Anton as the face for the NPA was a mistake. They needed a newer, fresher, and younger edge. Or simply put, a prettier face. Nobody wants an old cranky maid to run their city. |

just face it you're an idiot who comes on to bitch about anything and everything even when it contradicts what you were bitching about on a prior day and you'll bitch about things you support* as long as its coming from a person you dont like (robertson) *no one really knows what you support since you're bitching about everything.... solution: get laid (might be hard though since you'll probably bitch her/him out before you go at it) |
^ That's harsh. :lol |
aaaannd....bringing this back to topic. Susan Anton did a superb job of getting Gregor elected, and I think she should be very proud of he...oh, she was ona different party. Riiiight. She never connected with voters. My test for people is, even if what you are saying doesn't make sense to me, does it make sense to others. She failed. The only thing that she ever said where I sat there and actually agreed with her is in an article, she was talking about how being mayor is not as glamorous as 'some'-gregor make it out to be. She said quite clearly that she viewed homeslessness as a provincial problem. Their jurisdiction. The city's main goal, is development permits and infrastructure. I don't think the city of Vancouver should be signing agreements to back the money for the Olympic village and all this other grandstanding, build a legacy bullshit. Now, sadly that doesn't resonate with people that want solutions, see nothing coming from Victoria or Ottawa and have their candidate saying, "fuck that! not my bag, baby" Gregor had this one in the bag before it started. In New West, the incumbant mayor doubled his competitor. Doubled. I think in Civic politics, the only real time you get a change in Mayor is when the old one retires. |
I want to thank all you people that bitch and complain on voting day about the issues with each party and why they didn't vote for others. Thank you for coming a day late and a buck short. |

The solution is to kill off all the stupid people in the world, yet the government won't allow me to do that, so instead I just make fun of them. |
I voted for Lotus Chung because I found this vid somewhat entertaining. She reminds me of a bad Asian stereotype |
