Fake two-zone TransLink passes were produced in China, sold in Vancouver

Five people, including two foreigners in Vancouver on student or visitor visas, have been charged in connection with an eight-month investigation into counterfeit TransLink passes.

The probe focused on counterfeit TransLink two-zone monthly passes, allegedly being produced in China and sold at a slightly reduced price to unsuspecting transit users in Metro Vancouver through ads — in both Chinese and English — on social networking websites.

TransLink’s two-zone monthly passes for adults sell for $110, while the counterfeit passes were being sold for $90 to $100 each.

They should invest their efforts in much more worthwhile causes, like selling replica BBT stamps.

Probably smart, if they were $40 people might start wondering if there real. At $10-20 off they probably figure they are hot and some people don't care and buy anyway.

You obviously do not take public transit. I started to take public transit last year and I can tell you I would jump on $10 savings in a heart beat.
$10 a year = $120.
$120 for years = savings.

unit 11-04-2011 08:35 AM

jesus, a bus pass is 110? thats like hardly less than my insurance.

Transit in this city is fucking expensive!
With all the price hikes they said it was to "provide more reliable service to its customers"

Transit system is STILL shit in my area

End of 2012/Early 2013

The same thing with the fare gates. Construction has already begun for the Expo line and apparently the Millenium line was already designed for these gates.
