Telus internet doesn't come close to what Shaw offers when it comes to speed.

And for people switching over for TV, Shaw is upgrading their network because of mpeg4 boxes and they're adding a slew of new channels which Telus won't offer or offer down the road. For our ethnic friends, Shaw has added a few new Chinese and south Asian channels.

PM me for hookups! Telus promos are ending soon!

Over9K 04-10-2012 11:16 PM

Are people really that blind?

What's up with people saying how Telus is better...take a look at your cables.

Phone lines are so thin and flimsy, while cable is so hard, tough, and thick.

;)

Vote for Telus

Was golfing on sunday at 11am. Forgot to record the Masters. Pulled out my smartphone and set up the recording at the course. :fuckyea:

So if they start putting the actual wires in a different sleeve that a lot of hard, tough, and thick, then it's better?

The exact numbers are 5.6 meg HD and 2.25 Meg SD, using all streams uses 19.05 Meg. The 3HD vdsl profile syncs at minumum 26.25 Meg, but has 1meg overhead so your actual left over Bandwidth with all streams in use is 25.25-19.05= 6.2. Thats the minimum though, most of the vdsl ccts train at 31-33.

These numbers could change in the future if/when bonded dsl is used and if/when higher bandwidth VDSL profiles are used.

If you didn't guess how I know... I also install that ish.

fyi, the flimsy phone lines have 3 lines of signal whereas your 'thick' coax only has one.

The cable doesn't matter, it's how the signal is encoded and transfers that matter.

Depends on the cable. cat5 is used in most new installs and it has 4 prs !:fullofwin:

Doesn't matter, POTS doesn't use the extra pairs of cat5.

Fuck Shaw, they cut HDNET and think that the fucking disney channel makes up for it. I'm considering switching.

Yes, you are right each pr supports one pots line. I was just referring to the cable itself. There is no point really comparing cables anyway. The technologies ran on each for Internet are completely different.

Gh0stRider 05-11-2012 07:45 PM

contacted shaw to make some changes to our bundle. it would come out to $200 after taxes :fuuuuu:

Narayan 05-11-2012 09:14 PM

I recently switched to Telus and had my first hiccup in service with my PVR not working properly and I must say the lady I spoke to was very clear, conscience and fixed my problem in a timely matter. She even went above and beyond for a "repair" issue in my mind.

Plus the call didnt take 5hrs for a call back like it was on Shaw... rather a timely 15 minute wait.

Gh0stRider 05-12-2012 12:58 PM

personal tv
broadband50
home phone basic
$150

wanted to change to premier tv and keep internet and phone. they said $206

PornMaster 05-12-2012 01:19 PM

Optik Large Bundle + 5 boxes
Optik Turbo Internet (25mbps)
Basic Phone
130 before discounts

80 after discounts

nns 05-12-2012 02:47 PM

5 boxes? 3hd + 1sd I'm guessing? Do you ever run out of tuners?

HonestTea 06-04-2012 02:26 PM

Telus

$26 Basic TV + 7 (Sports TSN/TSN2/SN etc)
$15 High Speed Optik Internet
$15 Basic Phone + CID
$10 for 2 HD Boxes
Cantonese Channels free

$73 pre-tax for only 6 months and they want me to call back after 6 months for another deal.

vs.

Shaw

Basic TV(Includes TSN already but no TSN2)
Cantonese Channels
Basic Phone + CID
Shaw High Speed 10.5(Bump from my previous 7.5)

Internet 10.5 -> 20 for 6 months free

$89.95 pre-tax for a year and after a year it'll be $99.95(Cantonese pack = $10)

Hmm..decisions decisions..$16.95 difference for 6 months, $101.70 saved. Currently with Shaw, what would you guys do? Switch I guess? Although internet is slower than Shaw(or so the rep says)
