"Good HipHop/Rap suggestions" is that way.. |
A TON of good hip-hop still lurks around. You guys are just trapped in the mainstream scene. I don't think its fair comparing 90's hip-hop to present style; or even comparing the pioneers of hip-hop like Rakim or KRS-one to Pac and Smalls. A lot of you are answering you're own questions to why hip-hop is what it is today. :suspicious: Yes hip-hop was more raw back then and lyrically spoken but trust me this is the internet if you guys lurk around more to hip-hop/rap forums there's a lot of underground shit that hasn't even risen yet or will always stay underground for a purpose. I was born in the 80's and I got a hella lot of love for the music for the genre I was born in, love for the genre of music before I was even born, and love to the music presently. My 2 cents. Oh, and here's a classic. |

j-silver: yeah theres bound to be some decent stuff out there im sure, but what people consider good nowadays is gimmicky/catchy lines with no substance, or stuff that is just all political and way too conscious it makes common and talib look like thugs. the beauty of music is that it comes in eras. hiphop had its hay day, now theres other genres in their prime right now that you gotta take a step back from one genre and give another a chance. just the way i see things anyway. i still bought albums up until the last dilla joint (own every one), but now thats a wrap. |

Rap / Hip-Hop isn't horrible now. Everyone just gets older and tastes almost always stay the same. In 10-15 years you will have people in their later 20s to late 30s bitching about Rap and Hip-Hop being shitty compared to 2011. Everything progresses, industries change, what people value in a performer changes over time. |
I have every Cormega joint been listening to him since the 90's. I'm another big fan of Big Noyd, Been listening to them since Mobb Deep came out with the infamous grabbed that shit for free off a BMG scam with a fake name back in the day LOL |
