Hip Hop/Rap horrible now a days?

I used to love hip hop and rap, however now I noticed that rappers ruin music lol.

Is it the music or has my taste just changed?

For example

Take out t.i. and you have a pretty awesome track

murd0c 11-30-2011 02:32 PM

J. Cole is pretty darn how and has wicked flow. Hiphop is just changing thats all. That being said Common's new album coming out is going to be off the hook!!

!Yaminashi 11-30-2011 03:07 PM

I'd have to agree. I'm tired of tracks talking about how much money they have or how being a gangsta means rollin on 24's with your homeboys and gettin head from bitches in the club.

J.Cole does have wicked flow. My favorite right now

points 11-30-2011 10:58 PM

Because those rappers make money, not music.

Excelsis 11-30-2011 11:00 PM

i've turned from listening rap to classical :fuckthatshit:

couple of old songs from eminem and the game, but that's it lol

points 11-30-2011 11:20 PM

i listen to classical when i work, and kid cudi when i try to goto sleep.

Tim Budong 11-30-2011 11:35 PM

this is the evolution of music
it evolved to shit.
but thats only for COMMERCIAL TOP 40 MUSIC

Excelsis 11-30-2011 11:38 PM

i remember when i used to listen to the radio... good times

in the end, classics always come out on top

unit 12-01-2011 09:19 AM

90s hip hop was the bomb.
new stuff... not so much.
i just let go of the genre instead of clinging onto it.

Sir_Loin 12-01-2011 09:35 AM

I stick to J.Cole and Lupe Fiasco, I'll listen to some Kid Cudi.

fsy82 12-01-2011 12:08 PM

I stopped listening to Hip Hop and Rap awhile ago. Its gone to shits now a days. 90s was the bomb.

not decent compared to what we had before in the 90s. none of those guys will ever go down in history for anything imo

G-spec 12-01-2011 02:22 PM

but like Unit said, the golden age of hip hop was very late 80's and early to mid 90's...you had your Rakim, Daddy Kane, NWA, 2Pac, Nas, Wu Tang, G funk Westcoast Era etc.... all in their PEAK!
I cant remember many if any weak rap artists that had videos out or got mainstream attention for whack songs...
the whole industry was Lebron James and Kobe fckin Bryants, you couldn't get a deal if you were whack let alone a full blown video featured on all the major radios and music channels...
But nowadays it's rampant across all media, take Soulja Boy for example, he sold millions cuz of that Superman song, his last CD the other month nigga barely sold 100k copies

Reunited Wu Tang double cd back in 98, that was the last CD I ever bought, since then the only artist I've followed truly in the same manner as all my faves from the 90's has been Lupe Fiasco, I love the message he's trying to send out.... I went to go see RaeKwon from Wu Tang at the Croatian cultural few years back, also went and saw Snoop Dogg at the Pne arena for old Doggystyle times sake, lol

coincedentally the best era for Hip Hop was the same time as the NBA as well, compare the 90's visually to what we got today and it don't compare, I'll take my 2Pac over T.I , my Wu Tang over any rap group since then and forever, I'll take my Shaq and Penny over CarMelo and Stoudemire, prime Michael Jordan over LeBron....

THIS right here, best words to describe back then vs now, would be then shit was RAW, and now it's pre packaged...

lol no doubt this era cant compare to the golden days, the true hip hop and the birth of gangster rap, but hey, they better than w.e was left in the 2000's :lol, none of those guys still exist

jpark 12-01-2011 11:12 PM

immortal technique and nas is still keeping hip hop alive
/end

No group will be able to do what the WU did hands down. That being said after 10+ years of it hanging in my closet it's time to rock my WU jacket this winter

I also have a suede one that doesnt fit lol

jpark 12-02-2011 12:28 AM

some real hip hop

and some deep content stuff

none of this can be found in the current generation of garbage rap

hotjoint 12-02-2011 06:27 AM

No doubt that old school rap from the 90's is way better than any of this shit out now a days. I'm still a big hip hop head. Hip hop music is evolving to the point where it's getting real mainstream now. Hip hop artist are getting with dance dj's like david guetta and benny benassi :lol
