I would, but I'm in Kelowna unfortunately. If I get rich and retire young I'll make monthly trips to Van to fix RSers systems haha

there's your problem...
you will get frustrated and will try anything possible after you paid $50 ~ 80 several times and RROD still comes back.

again, if there's a guy who would do BGA for cheap locally, DO IT.

did they actually diagnose the RROD properly, or just tear it apart, heatgun everything, replace the x clamps with screws (which should NOT be done, keep the clamps) and give it back? there are soooo many people who claim to fix the RROD but don't do it even remotely right.

I got mine done by a guy in coquitlam. He actually reballed it rather than reflowed like most of the other places. It was about the same price from what I remember

lol my xbox rrod again

underscore was right it lasted about 10 minutes before i decided to reboot and it rrod again

i did the towel method for like 50 minutes

hoping i didnt fuck it up too much and theres still a chance i can reball/reflow it.

looking to take it somewhere for repair

this is what the broadway place is charging for reball/reflow

Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death (RROD) Repair which includes: GPU Reflow with Infra-Red Rework Station, X-Clamp Replacement on both CPU and GPU and new Thermal Paste = $60 (includes 6 month warranty).

Xbox 360 GPU Reball Service which Includes: GPU Reballing with IR Rework Station (replacing lead free solder with lead), X-Clamp Replacement on both CPU and GPU and new Thermal Paste = $90 (Includes 1 year warranty)

is there someone that will do it for cheaper + experienced?

im guessing you could DIY for 30$ but if someone has a Infra-Red Rework Station its better to pay the extra $ and get them to do it for you

i

Bumping and old thread. I'm looking to fix my rrod myself (first time experiencjng it) and see a lot of eBay repair kits that come with both screwrivers and other stuff such as thermal stars?. They range from $10 to 30. Is there a difference or as long as I have both screwdrivers and any thermal crap I'm good? Thanks.

you can get away with a single Torx 10 most times, the Torx 8 screws are more like a 9 so the 10 is usually able to grab them. Aside from that all you need is any thermal paste you can get, some rubbing alcohol, tin foil, and a heat gun.

Thanks. Would a blow dryer work in place of a heat gun lol? if not, can you recommend an affordable heat gun? my only use for it would be just for fixing the RROD. a quick Home Depot search shows them ranging $30-50 and that's getting close to the cost to pay someone to repair it. TIA

I used a $15 propane torch from Walmart when fixing xbox and my laptop. Has multiple uses, soldering and starting fires when camping....

I got one on sale at Canadian Tire for like $20. The benefit is, you can reuse it if you need to fix the RROD again, or if you fix a buddies you've paid it off. A hair dryer could do it but be sure to check the wattage and apply heat for longer than with a heat gun (keep in mind going too short is better than going too long with heat, you can always try again).

Have you pulled the full code from it yet?
