Koodo's MB/SK $48 plan is pretty much the same (except a data cap of 5GB, no international calling and no US roaming). If you don't mind downgrading to one less GB of data (and saving $20+ a month), I would recommend it since Telus has a much better network and you can expect your phone to work everywhere.

But if you still want to try and your phone is Wind compatible, buy a SIM card and test out the network. Just make sure you get a new number. You wouldn't want to port your Rogers number to Wind only to find out it doesn't work.

Sorry for my noobness but what's this Koodo plan your talking about I have their brochure with me right now and can't find anything on there that is similar to the $48 plan you were saying...if it's pretty much all the same at the wind one minus that other shit I'll just go with Koodo since I know they do have better cell service...

Read through the HowardForums thread to double check everything. I think the loop hole is still up.

Used it about a month ago for my brother.

Jesus seems like a lot of work to do and a pain in the ass lol...I mean with the $50 plan plus bringing my own device plus getting my wife to sign up I save around $9 plus get an extra 3gb of data but on the downside get questionable cell service...I mean is it actually that bad where people can't really function with their phones?

The BYOD credits are for extra stuff, doesn't go towards your plan.

It works, but it is spotty in some areas in Surrey and Langley. I know South Surrey is iffy.

Like I said, you can feel free to try it out. But I would still recommend the Koodo plan over Wind at the moment.

I'm not sure how the Mobilicity spectrum will affect the Wind network yet. Have to wait until the end of January before it gets put into use.

In other words, the new WIND under Shaw will be a PREMIUM brand, NOT a discounted brand, and will compete directly with Rogers, Bell and Telus cellular brand.

I think it will be great for existing users (assuming that your plans will be grandfathered), but I don't anticipate any of the current Mobilicity/Chat-R users scrambling to jump on WIND. It will be an alternative to the premium brands that's for sure.

Yup. Very good move for Shaw. Services will definitely be improved as Shaw already had spectrum. I can't wait to start selling phone plans mauahaha. But big changes won't happen until late 2016. They still need to sign papers

When Wind gets LTE it'll be a big improvement for the data speeds. I think way too many people are using their network now and my data speed has been garbage, can't even watch a Youtube video on my phone at 1080 or 720, 480 will work sometimes but it keeps buffering.

If you manage to be above ground, in an open area, or in a wooden frame building, your signal will be fine. However, if you're frequently underground, live in the basement or in a concrete building, or even a few walls into the back of your de-tached house on the main floor. Your signal will suffer. Their signal penetration still suck for years to come (regardless of 4G/LTE or not).

WIND does not have wall-penetrating spectrum like the Big 3's do (700MHz, 850MHz).

Not sure about this but I noticed that in places where I was able to watch Youtube at 1080, it does not work at all anymore, the data speeds seem way slower then 1-2 years ago.

If you're referring to NETWORK SPEED then yes, their current network isn't as good as a few years ago. Though I've heard it's gotten better in the past month due to transferred spectrum from Rogers.

I noticed after the wind take over of the mobilicity towers, my reception around the downtown area to the cambie and broadway area has gotten better and faster than ever before. Sadly, where I live in south burnaby near the skytrain, it's suddenly dropped to 0 and I go to roaming I hope they didn't give this area's towers to rogers in lieu of gaining some near downtown

It's been HSPA+ up to 42.2Mbps for 5 years. LOL
It really comes down to the areas you frequent and whether you're constantly in concrete buildings/underground (the latter cannot be improved in the foreseeable future).

Try it first if you haven't, probably better now but service before was so bad. When I bought a phone and tried it I had Zero signal in my home and in my office, not being able to use my phone in those two locations was kind of a deal breaker for me considering I spend 90% of my time in one of those spots.

There are only a few (like less than 5) phones in market that even have support for Wind's LTE bands.

Yeah saw that. From my understanding, it is all an software thing. Is there such upgrade/mod to make my s7 edge be compatible with their LTE networks? or there is no way as its all controlled by the provider?
