There are good people out there...

Just felt like sharing this:

I went snowboarding with a few people on Tuesday.
After a few runs, and a few bails on the hardpacked icy snow up on Seymour, I reached for my phone to text someone...
To my amazement, my iPhone was missing...FUCK!

I figured it must have fallen out of my buttoned up pocket on one of my bails.
The cold sweat set it. As I got up on the chair lift I noticed a couple sitting close by where I fell.
My girlfriend yelled out to them and asked if they had found a phone. They did!

I snowboarded down and there it was. If anyone has experienced this, losing your phone sucks. You lose everything. Contacts, pics, videos, etc.
I thanked the couple and offered to buy them dinner since I had no other way of rewarding them. They kindly refused and wished me a Merry Christmas.
I looked through my phone and they even called my house in attempt to report the phone missing. I am ever so thankful.

Just goes to show, there are good/honest people who will do the right thing.

I've had the exact same thing happen except I lost my phone on a golf course. Some guy picked it up called me and said hes giving it to the club house and I got it back the next day.

There are lots of good people out there you just have to weed past the bad ones really

Kinda hard to believe, but same thing happened to me. I was up in whistler for the last few days. Finished a run, decided to go get some drinks with my buddy. I reach into my pocket, no iphone, no wallet, no keys. Must've fallen out when i wiped out. We go asking people where and if there is a lost and found, couple minutes later, my mom calls my buddy telling him that somebody found my phone has called some of my contacts and is willing to give it back.

I grab my buddy's phone, call my phone, and the guy told me to meet him in front of a shop. Turns out it was two teens that found my phone and stuff, and handed it all back to me, not a penny missing. I told em to wait there and bought them each a drink and a burger and thanked them.

Ive found a phone and gave it back, nice to see others with the same attitude.

When I worked at Playland a year or 2 ago, it wasn't unusual to find a phone on a ride. One time, a phone started ringing and we had a strict policy about no phones while working. Luckily for me there was 2-3 people operating our ride so I was able to step aside and answer the phone even though I knew I'd get in trouble if a manager/foreperson walked by. No reward but still felt a nice feeling when I handed the phone over. :)

BTW if you enable icloud, you won't lose your contacts, pictures, videos, or anything. Just the phone ;)

N.V.M. 12-21-2011 07:09 PM

or sync it every so often, you won't lose a lot.

s300ae 12-21-2011 07:48 PM

yea i get that... but still... im pretty attached to my phone.
and when people say they arent, they havent experienced the feeling of having something and then losing it suddenly.

here's another good story.

a girl walked by my once, and i decided not to rape her.

Lost my iphone couple weeks ago. No one returned it :( .

My mom found an Iphone yesterday in the best buy parking lot, and even though someone kept calling, she couldn't figure how to answer it, LOL. She had to bring it home so I could answer it and I met up with the guy and gave it back. Guy was so happy.

Its also a kick in the teeth when you give a phone back and they show 0 gratitude. Not even a thank you.

There was one time at work, a co worker was fitting out a customer with some hockey gear and ski equipment. They picked out a bunch of stuff already and left it at the bench. They then took some of their stuff and disappeared (turns out they went to look for more stuff to buy) and only left like a glove and his iphone on the bench. I told my coworker I put the iphone inside the drawer of the bench and that he left it there. We tried to call any contacts but the phone was locked.

After about 20 minutes I see them at the till paying for their huge stock pile of gear and clothes. So I ran back to the bench, grabbed his phone and chased him down before his transaction was done.

I told him he just left it on the bench by itself and everyone was gone. He just out right accuses me of stealing it right away, says a bunch of crap in chinese and just takes his phone. I just walked away without saying anything.
