I went to the Brentwood location. Apparently she said Zellers made a mistake with their "original" coupon and that head office has specifically asked all stores to now take the hard copy coupon since a lot of people have been abusing this coupon. I could have "argued" with her that it's not my fault Zellers made a mistake and that they should honour the coupon since it was already made public but it was already 9pm and all I had was an $8 laundry basket. I could have made the trip out today but all the good stuff (I wanted a KitchenAid mixer) has already been picked over/sold out and I'm not going to go just for $4 off on my laundry basket.

This coupon was great. I went to town on Swiffer refills which are pricey and rarely go on sale. Also picked up laundry soap, Jet Dry, a sweater for my mom and a pair of sweat pants. Thanks for posting.

It's all starting to make sense - the 50% off event.

Zellers is now having their closeout sale. All in order to make way for Target. Looks like some of the stores will turn into a Target, but others will simply close down. Brentwood is staying, but Metrotown, of all places, is not.

There's also going to be a heated battle between the unions and Target, as the stores are not going to be unionized.

Can you imagine what the rent is on the metrotown store? All 2 floors of it?

So, it becomes a Wal-Mart or broken into smaller stores.

So what everything is 50% off now?

May not be as bad as you'd guess, especially if Metro can't fill that space with a suitable anchor store.

When Playdium closed down, that space was turned into a number of different things. I recall Sportchek even had a clearance location there in addition to their full store on the lower floor and a store in Station Square still. Apparently the rent at the Playdium location was practically free as Metrotown didn't want that space to be left empty and make the mall barren.

If only the people at Henderson and Aberdeen understood this.
