Photomeet: Sat, Jan 21 - Birding A birding photomeet! (if the weather works out) Just throwing it out there if anyone Revscene photographers would wana meet up and "bird" a little bit. I've been gone over sea's for a while and haven't seen any of the photographers on Revscene since of course. I'd really enjoy seeing some old, and new faces! Here's my thoughts. Saturday Jan 21, 2011 - 9am Reifel Bird Sanctuary and Boundary Bay - The cost of $5 to get into Reifel. Meet at 9am at Reifel and walk around there for a bit then hit up some lunch, and then Boundary Bay after if there is still some light out. Birding is more fun that it may seem, even my 15 year old (cool guy) nephew had a great time trying it out! It's not everyday that people get to use a 500mm + lens so it would be a great opportunity for people to learn how to use longer class, and empty their wallets. I would have no problem bringing out and letting people use my Canon 500mm F4L (I also have a 1.4x too). I'm sure some of Revscene members have some longer'ish glass they can bring too! Thoughts? Anyone interested? |
you're back in town? photowalk time! |
Yes, back in town! Let's walk! |
Bring the big guns! |
I can't make it in January...I'll be free in February. :( |
I'd be down, only have a 70-200mm f2.8 IS, but would love to try your tc or 500mm. |
none of my lenses would work :lawl: i guess ill wait til there's a meet stroll around town |
welcome back dood! i'm a maybe at the moment. :) |
I would love to make it, but I only got a 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS (a very standard lens) You are generous to borrow your 500mm F4L for other use. |
I guess a 35mm wouldn't work ... :( |

Also, i dunno maybe its the way you worded your sentence, but no one is "borrowing" my lens, it's just to be used here and there for people that want to use it on the photomeet. Other people that don't use Canon, are more than welcome to come as well. You don't always need a super-mega-ultra-zoom to get good shots. I used to go there all the time with just my 70-200 and had a great time there. Remember, the best lens is the one that you have on your camera. |
We should have another one in February - I can bring some long Nikon glass for the Nikon users. |
oooh nikon glass =) |

Looks like I may be able to come! :) |
BOOO.. not here :( |
I was wondering of the Nikon 1 would be a sick birding setup if paired with a tele. It's got a 2.7x crop factor! |
|
I'll come, even tho I only have a 200mm =(. Bring snow pants lol |

If it's snowing, I'm probably going to skip Reifel and go directly to Boundary Bay. |

Snowy Owl photos taken on a snowy day would be awesome. I'll take a look at the tide tables, and see when the best times will be. Shit, the only shoes I have are mesh runners..... |
Who's in guys? We can make this a later date as well. I'll be going out on Saturday anyway around it. I'm bringing this! http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7162/6...c245258c_b.jpg (Rebel not included) |
