Burrard Acura negotiations

Whaddap guys, so we've been in the market for a new car. Particularly we're looking at a facelift Acura RDX.

We've looked at brand new 2012's with the SH-AWD Premium Pkg at around 45k out the door.

Theres another 2011 RDX Technology Pkg we checked out at Burrard acura for total of 49k, but got 4k manufacturer rebate, coming to a total of 45k. We gave em an offer of 42k, sales guy called his manager, said they would have to be at 43k to accept. Its been sitting there for over a year now though, which is kinda holding us back from buying it.

Dealer really wants our buisness, but pretty much let us walk for a difference of 1k.
Thoughts? Would it be worth it not to buy the car over 1k?

!Aznboi128 01-29-2012 10:06 PM

I would ask to split the difference, I'm sure they can. Also try other dealers as well, try Richmond, Lougheed etc

That being said, I've been driving a RDX recently and honestly I love the sh-awd system works well and pretty cool. However I must say the ride is rough and the seats are hard. This is coming from driving a slammed accord.... (2011 model face-lifted)

BlackZRoadster 01-29-2012 10:07 PM

I would get a 2012 if the difference is not huge

We tried 42.5k but they said they would still be losing money :okay:

Walk it for now, they'll give you a call within next few days and possibly take your offer. Check out other locations too.

^ this,

they wont let you walk away for a thousand bucks,

you know it,

That's what they always say. (Retailers for ________ )

godwin 01-29-2012 10:45 PM

Or spend ~$30 bucks to get the true cost from CarCostCanada? Information is a very useful thing.

SumAznGuy 01-29-2012 10:47 PM

The other option if they do not call you back in a few days or other dealerships do not have one is to ask them to throw in accessories or free maintenance to make up the $1K difference.

But if you really want to be a troll, and they do call you back, then offer them a lower price. :troll:

Nlkko 01-29-2012 11:28 PM

Walk.

iam_dan 01-29-2012 11:30 PM

walk for sure, especially if its been on the lot for a year already.

dlo 01-29-2012 11:46 PM

Msg jaemc, he works at burrad and probably can give you more insight, the rdx is a sexy right but kinda rough IMO,

they probably would be losing money at 42.5k... if they've had it for over ayear, they bought it at 2010/2011 pricing which was probably 4-5k than they coudl buy one wholesale for now.

If they're desperate to sell it, they wouldn't let you walk over $1000...

Grim 01-30-2012 12:59 AM

you're the buyer, dont let them get a hold of you.
walk off, within a week.. i guarantee you, they will b calling and crawling back to suck your dick.

Life's too short, just get the car and enjoy it. Don't waste your time over some trifling amount. :D

do they not think that they are loosing money by having it sit there?

LP700-4 01-30-2012 12:04 PM

Apparently not, hope they realize that it is a 2011 car, can't use the 2012 prices to compare.

If there are no differences between a 2011 and 2012 model and the car is new, ie the warranty hasn't started, then it really doesn't make much difference.

^ except thats its sat through a winter of ice and cold and the motor oil/gas have been sitting for who knows how long

LP700-4 01-30-2012 12:27 PM

Exactly, the exterior's even got some algae growing on it, probably needs a detail. Battery needs to be replaced. And that's not even including all the fluids and stuff.

BlackZRoadster 01-30-2012 12:27 PM

^ lol, so what if it's sat through ice and cold?

Its a brand new car, I wouldn't be worrying about the oil/gas sitting. New dealerships will periodically charge their batteries and engine start their cars.

shenmecar 01-30-2012 01:40 PM

Walk. within a few days they will b calling u back.

optiblue 01-30-2012 02:59 PM

If they let you walk, you know you've gotten very close to the lowest price they can do.

LP700-4 01-30-2012 04:04 PM

Wow, they called again requesting 43.5k im just sitting there like :seriously:

Called the deal off, told him to destroy any papers we had in the file.

Time to go deal hunting again!

FerrariEnzo 01-30-2012 11:06 PM

once you get your "new" ride... go back there and just TROLL them.. haha.. show them that they lost your business... but you gotta go back to the same sales guy... hopefully he remembers you... and get your friend to film it..
