paying almost 40k for this? :fuckthatshit: cars that come off the dock non detailed are in way better shape than this. if offered a repaint, dont bother. just push for a new car. aint the same anymore if the car has been repainted. if anything screws up with that, the body shop would become the scape goat of this whole ordeal. this is bs man. i work at a dealer and this is so unacceptable in many ways. we would never ever deliver a car in that shape. |
I don't usually post on RS... but wtf is up with Richmond Subaru?!! Hope you get what you want/deserve in the end... Good luck! |
Someone should let Richmond Subaru know about this thread. The people who run it should be aware that the people working there is ruining it's rep and business. |

If OP paid for a new car, he should get a new car, bottom line. I don't know what Richmond Subaru's argument is. If OP bought his car from a different dealership, he wouldn't be going through this hassle. You would think because OP chose to go to Richmond Subaru, they would treat him properly, especially for the known fact that the other dealerships have better service.. but for whatever reason, even their manager is telling him to get lost? :fulloffuck: I am really interested in what Richmond Subaru thinks they have as a defensive argument. It's not even my car and this is making my blood boil. |

i hope OP changes his richmond subaru license plate cover and add "DON'T buy from" in front of it :troll: |
If he gets a full repaint on the car. He should get it repainted at the shop of his choice + get the diminished value of his car. |
Someone else mentioned earlier that Richmond Subaru should give him a new STI and take his car back and use it as a demo. If I were them this is what I'd do. |
I lurk a lot, don't usually post. Many years ago a friend picked up a new STi, on delivery day he asked for a nice STi keychain. "No, we are not giving it to you. We already gave you a wicked deal on the car, you are not taking anymore free things from us." Right, they said it. :rukidding: I myself put down a $1000 deposit on a WRX, days later a different sales guy called me and told me he had sold the car I wanted, told me to "deal with it". :accepted: This was followed by a long and bitter battle, involving NASIOC and some local friends with Subaru connections. The day I was in the GM's office to pick up the cheque. "Why did you have to do this to us all over the internet?" "You did it yourself" :fuckyea: Richmond Subaru never saw a dime from neither of us ever again. Keep in mind that this happened a long time ago. I know for a fact that there had been an ownership change over the last, say, 5 years or so. I had a chance to talk to one of the new managers within last year. I told him about these things. "Send me an E-mail, I will keep you in the know over good deals and new things" Glad I never did send that E-mail. Now I am just gonna mention their name to boost our Google hits Richmond Subaru Richmond Subaru Richmond Subaru Richmond Subaru Richmond Subaru Richmond Subaru Richmond Subaru Richmond Subaru |
On Nasioc forums, from 2003, titled "Another Richmond Subaru Story" Another Richmond Subaru Story. - NASIOC Copied to here: "So my driver side headlight isn't lighting up very brightly and I suspect it's a melted headlight socket. Ashtaron14 got it done there for 50 bucks and i thought it coudlnt' be that bad, and it was the only place that wasn't busy. I go during my lunch break and get there on the dot at 12:30(the time of my appointment). I ask them to check the headlight and while they are at it could they please pop out my driver side vent. So I wait and wait, finally at 1:10 my car rolls in the garage. 40 minutes pass and my car looks like it's done and they drive it out. It turns out, they forgot to check my headlight and took 40 mins popping out the vent. They then take another half or so hour checking my headlights and find nothing. I'm charged only 0.2 hours, but I basically paid 20 bucks to get something done that I've had them do in like 10 seconds for free (popping out the vent). I just got back to work and I'm about 2 hours over my lunch break :O Dumbasses." I can guarantee if you spend 30 minutes of your time searching for Richmond Subaru reviews on Google, your going to be shocked....:accepted: dcgear Scooby Specialist Member#: 14254 Join Date: Jan 2002 Chapter/Region: VIC Location: Vancouver B.C Vehicle: 2005 Impreza WRX STi Aspen White Send a message via MSN to dcgear i think its time someone wrote a letter to subaru canada to file a complaint against richmond subaru. i always see bad things posted about them and i think someone should really do it. just a thought.. To the OP, sorry to hear about your ass raping at the hands of Richmond Subaru. If you have the time, you are more than welcome to come by my shop. We can take some paint thickness readings and some pics that will help determine whether or not the paint can be saved. If its not salvageable, the info may help you in your endeavour to get the car replaced. Painting it is an option, and given the softness of new Subie paint, may be worth looking at as long as its done properly. A properly painted car will run in excess of $7k. If there is anything I can do to help, pm me here or call me at 604.561.5121 Ken |
MindBomber, about that guy on H-T that seems like he "knows" what he's talking about, saying that NO car is perfect out of the factory, does he actually know what the hell he's going on about, or is he just a complete fucking tool on the forum in general? |

if you find a cockroach in your meal, would you argue for a new meal free of charge or settle for them picking the dead thing out of it and telling you it's okay to eat? (yes, there's a price difference between that a car, but you get my drift) |

I will GLADLY book a day off of work to go down to Richmond Subaru and hand out flyers and warn potential customers of the absolute shit hole dealership it is along side with all the other RS, Nasioc members! |
Richmond Subaru's Google reviews aren't exactly positive. lightning - 21 Feb, 2012 I feel completely duped! They verbally told me one price and charged something else on paper. Yes, my mistake was that after a long day I did not carefully read the final price they charged till it was too late. PLEASE don't make the mistake I made and stay away from Richmond Subaru. Crystal - 21 Sep, 2011 The sales person was super rude. Went for a test drive to see how the Impreza feels then he cracked a comment about us taking it out for too long (um, Richmond traffic sucks so majority of the time, we were stuck behind some idiot who can't drive!) Just super rude and a very unpleasant feeling. I ended up getting a Subaru Impreza but from another location. conan - 1 Jun, 2011 Totally a rubbish~~inexperienced salesmen~and they will charge you more than any subaru dealer in Vancouver. If you wanna buy a subaru, just stay away from it. They wannna 1500 non-refundable deposit for testing drive a sti, while you just need to pay 500 that is refundable at other dealerships avdsa - 9 May, 2011 Shopping for a Subaru here few months back. After 1 hr. bargaining, manager gave a price IDENTICAL to another Subaru dealer's online listed price. Bought my car at the other dealer obviously (not without bargaining of course)! Dominic - 8 Oct, 2010 Parts Advisors are way less than professional Been a parts customer of Richmond Subaru a few times. The experience has been less than pleasant. Those guys there are rude and mean. They don't man the parts counter as they are usually hidden in their office. I will drive a little bit farther to Vancouver from now on Richmond Subaru Richmond Subaru Richmond Subaru Richmond Subaru Richmond Subaru Richmond Subaru Richmond Subaru Richmond Subaru |
now i feel bad to have bought those prepaid cheap oil changes. even tho it's only $14, seems like they dont deserve any |
www.yelp.ca 1.0 star rating 2/25/2012 I went there because I bought the Indulge Living oil changes that included car wash and vacuum. They were not friendly at all and did a poor job. I tried to be helpful and let them know that they had some bad reviews on a Subaru forum that I like. They basically said that people on those forums don't know what they are talking about and they are a bunch of complainers. I explained that the reason I even brought it up was that I was hoping to help change their bad rep on said forum if they did a good job. They didn't get it, and proceeded to provide below average service. The promotion that I bought said what the tax should be but they tried to charge me way more. I actually had to fire up my laptop to prove that they were wrong. Instead of apologizing they acted like they were doing me a favour. Next time I went they did the same thing and I didn't feel like arguing with them. They took really long and my car was dirtier than when I showed up. I won't go back. __________________________________________________ _________________________________________ Dating back to the year 2000 Off of Subaru Forums (NASIOC) Old 05-27-2000, 04:46 AM #1 Katsudon Scooby Newbie Member#: 24 Join Date: Jun 1999 Chapter/Region: VIC Location: Vancouver, B.C., Canada Send a message via ICQ to Katsudon Exclamation My visit to Richmond Subaru for servicing. (LONG) I went to Richmond Subaru for a chatter problem with my clutch. It chatters for about 5 minutes when I don't drive the car over-night and then drive it first thing in the morning. This chatter has been bugging me since the beginning and throughout the winter, but it seemingly went away these past few days. I have no explanation on how this happened, but the thought of it coming back just made me sick. I brought my car in on thursday and they gave me a call during friday morning. It was nice of them to give me a courtesy car for without it, I had no way to get home. I've read the STi M-list and someone said that it had to do with a weak pressure plate for the clutch. When they called me back, the said that everything was in normal working condition. I wasn't satified with their check-up, I told them to check their service bulletins or anything like that for a probable faulty pressure plate. (I have never done a high rev. launch with my car. The most I did was at 2500) The service clerk told me that if I wasn't satisfied with their check-up, I can go straight to the dealer and talk to the Subaru Rep. of Canada as she was at the dealership til 3 pm. I was working at the time and said that I couldn't make it because I get of at 6 pm. My 1 hour lunch break was coming up so I decided to drop buy and see what they can do to resolve my unsatifactory situation. When I go there, they were surprised to see me. I dealt with the service clerk and tried to explain the situation as clearly as possible. She then asked if I had done any kind of modification to my car. I told them that I had changed the exhaust and lowered the car. I asked if changing my exhaust would be alright and she yes. She then went to the service bay and talked to the rep. She then came back and told me the Rep. is voiding my warranty because I changed my springs. The clerk stated that 'the performance springs damaged my clutch'. I was totally furious when she said that. How can my springs have anything to do with my clutch??? She then said that "each part of the vehicle is related to ALL the other parts". I snapped at her and said "so what you're saying is that my warranty will be voided when I have a busted brake light and you say that it's due to changing to a performance exhaust... That's what you're telling me right now!" She was speechless so I told her that I wanted to the rep. immediately. The Subaru rep. was quite nice to me and she did not agravate me further. I calmed down and asked her how can lowering my car can cause damage to the clutch. She clearly stated that if a part is damaged due to a modification, then that part will not be covered under warranty. I totally understand that and took the risk. But the chattering clutch had nothing to do with my springs. I do not know why the clerk keep on insisting to void my warranty. She kept on insisting that if I wanted the clutch checked out and replaced, I have to fork out the repair money first. I they find that the clutch or pressure plate is faulty, then they will reimburse me for the replacement. She stated that they 'have approved warrantied clutch replacement before, but it is a very rare case... One or TWO at the most!" I've been on this bulletin board for quite some time now and have read that quite a few ppl have this problem. I really wonder if Subaru knows about it. My guess is that they do and that's why they changed to a different pressure plate half way through the MY99 production. She made a point that if the evidence isn't there then they can't do anything with it. She was right, so I guess I will have to wait until the chatter comes back. But even when it comes back, I wouldn't bring my car to Richmond Subaru nor will I buy a car from that dealership EVER! The funny thing is that Richmond Subaru is the only dealership that sells the fabricated WRX ver 5 bumper which is not approved by Subaru Canada. They do their own modification to a car themselves, but they won't let you do your own modification. Does that make sense to you? Thanx for hearing me out if you read the entire thing. I feel much better now after letting it all out. Mike 99 RS |
I know that it's been mentioned a few times in this thread, but has anyone contacted the media? I'm going to send an email to Lynda Steele; it'll definitely help if a lot of you guys do the same. steeleonyourside@ctv.ca |
