another example of the audio recording capabilities also compared with studio recording

the video may seem familiar but theres an addition here and it also shows you what devices recorded what

bcrdukes 03-10-2012 01:13 PM

Offtopic but I saw a wide angle shot from a friend who was up at Cypress today - had me fooled completely. Thought she used her wide angle lens on her dSLR today but nope. It was her N8.

:okay:

StylinRed 03-10-2012 05:22 PM

lol, i think i broke my n8s camera... i dropped it sooo many times in the last few days pictures seem to be always blurred now

either that or ive got ms and cant hold the camera still anymore

bcrdukes 03-10-2012 05:29 PM

Just watched the video above.

Looks like the Nokia comes out top in overall audio delivery compared to the Samsung and iPhone.

StylinRed 03-11-2012 03:34 AM

yeah id like to see them show the N8 though it was used in filming that scene too but they oddly didnt show it

probably because they're almost as good

first hands on review outside of MWC of a prototype 808? edit: ugh nevermind :heckno:

StylinRed 04-17-2012 10:17 PM

Well I got my pre-order in from here:

Buy Nokia 808 PureView | 41 Megapixel Phone

there are a couple other shops with preorders for a little less in price but they dont ship internationally

came to around $700 CAD depending on how the CC calculates/charges exchange rates

bit too expensive imo but i imagine the price will drop closer to release date (supposedly mid May)

StylinRed 04-21-2012 01:46 AM

just some more sample shots from the 808

these are 5-8mpx shots

StylinRed 04-21-2012 05:02 PM

it runs Nokias Symbian Belle FP1 (some more widgets and new browser etc in fp1)

edit: oh and a pureview ad made from the 808 odd they didnt make it 1080p though

edit2 a refreshed look @ belle fp1 on the 808 (most current prototype video out there)

supposed release date is middle of May

gsmarena Nokia 808 PureView new samples arrive, look stunning - GSMArena.com news

Nokia 808 PureView new samples arrive, look stunning

Nokia is apparently not all about the Amazing Everyday and still finds time for its 808 PureView cameraphone monster. Today we got some fresh samples from the 41 megapixel to feast our eyes on. It's not the first time they're doing it, but you won't hear us complaining.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7049/7...a4f82c40_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7223/7...cb167b45_b.jpg

Most of the photos have been downsized to 5 megapixels, which supposedly allows us to see the best of the PureView technology and they are really impressive. The dynamic range and the amount of fine detail resolved is splendid and while we can't say anything about their accuracy, colors certainly look nice. Not to mention the shallow depth of field, which is normally next to impossible to achieve with a cameraphone.

There are also a few full-res samples, where the "per-pixel" sharpness levels isn't quite as impressive, but the overall resolved detail is mind-blowing. We'd say that the full-res samples are about as sharp when viewed at 100% as the current best cameraphones. The thing is there's three to four times more pixels on the 808 PureView.

In other words nothing currently on the market comes even close to what the 41 MP sensor inside the Nokia 808 PureView offers.

Check out the full gallery over here.

supposedly this whole feature was filmed with the 808; but Im uncertain i think only the upper atmosphere shot was but everyones saying the whole thing was

StylinRed 05-12-2012 05:00 PM

this is just awesome; this is from a regular user (not a professional production crew) who's always recording stunning videos with his Nokia N8 well he got his hands on the new 808 pureview and here's his first video

he isnt using any lens attachments or using any post processing like he does with his N8 this is all just straight from the 808

not dslr awesome i imagine but for a phone pretty damned sweet (however ppl say its better than what the canon 5d2 does and the pana gh2)

edit: the ghosting is because the video was, accidentally? (youtube? dunno) encoded to 25fps from 30fps

edit2: author has uploaded a correctly encoded video

edit3: some ghosting is still prevalent and its been found that its the fault of Sony Vegas again (or that is the user and his settings in vegas) he's uploaded another video showing the birds without the ghosting issues

edit4: the guy who uploaded it had to make his vids private oddly :crazy2:

anyway here's a reupload

StylinRed 05-12-2012 08:10 PM

hehe yeah a lot of people have been wondering that ;)

StylinRed 05-21-2012 03:43 PM

another video, filmed entirely from the 808, and more sample pics btw the ND Filter can be adjusted manually in the 808 (sample pics below)

as usual these should be unprocessed just straight from the phone

StylinRed 05-24-2012 07:12 AM

so a bunch of journalists/bloggers got to have an outing with Carl Zeiss/Nokia reps to play with the 808 here are some articles and samples of the images they were able to take

i left Engadget out because "surprisingly" they've once again managed to take horrible pictures like they did with the nokia n8

quite impressive

StylinRed 05-30-2012 07:21 AM

this is a video of Belle FP1 (aka Carla) running on a Nokia 603 which has the same ram/clock speed as the 808 Pureview

he's multitasking 57 apps and scrolling through the ui/apps with ease and in case you didn't know symbian is the pioneer of true multitasking

Quote:

Sorry for the bad quality. This video shows a short demonstration of the multitasking capabilities of the Nokia 603 running on Belle FP1. Even with 57 open apps, the phone runs pretty smoothly, with only slight lags here and there. You may notice that the number of open apps goes from 57 to 56 at one point, this is because I accidentally pressed the red key and closed dungeon hunter 2 instead of putting it in the background.

StylinRed 06-10-2012 04:16 AM

So the 808 is finally out in some countries and users are begining to play with it

here's an example of the 808s rich recording

here's an example of the touch focus

here's an unboxing and a size comparison between a OneX, Lumia, Nexus, etc?

here's another of a red one

And here's an attempt by a chinese website at comparing the Nokia 808 with a Sony NEX-5 Micro 4/3s the 808 is set to auto btw i'll spoiler them since there's a few

the Sony looks to have more Clarity and other +s but keep in mind its got a full frame sensor

So i was browing my Flickr contacts/groups and I came upon some stunning 808 pictures by regular users except they know how to use a camera

i ran this pic into photoshop and let it apply "shadows and highlights" so much detail can still be seen edit just realized my brightness settings on my monitor was loooooooow so i couldnt see anything in the first pic :lawl:

The 808 also has a Bracketing ability (hdr but it doesn't merge the photos in the phone)

and this is someones attempt at a free hand hdr

GSMArena Blind Test between these devices

the devices were set/downsampled to 8mpx for a so called "even playing field" with the other phones

Nokia 808 PureView (8MP PureView mode)
HTC One X
iPhone 4S
Samsung Galaxy S III
Nokia N8 (downsampled from 12MP to 8MP)
Olympus E-PL2 interchangable lens, large sensor camera (downsampled from 12MP to 8MP)

Nokia 808 PureView blind test: The sum of all pixels - GSMArena.com

its easy to pick out which is which and the Olympus and the 808 seem to be on par

StylinRed 06-15-2012 09:53 PM

So looks like Nokia might be releasing the Nokia 808 in the USA against their previous statement of no more Symbian in North America
