McCanell IS AWESOME. I took her online class for OB. Each week you have to answer some questions(5ish) and post them online, if you follow her guidelines and your answer are long enough you will get 100% every week. It adds up to about 30% of your grade if i remember correctly. Exams are multiple choice and short answer, fairly simple questions. There's also one group project if I believe. Haven't heard of the other two teachers. I took Jeremy Jarvis for Accounting was pretty simple

Thanks dbaz, you've just convinced me to keep my 2 McCanell classes, maybe i'll drop economics, did you have a final exam for her class? i hate that i have 2 final exams of hers on a Saturday in April that i have a family function arghhh!! did you spend the full 3 hours writing the exam? and how was the course load for her class and accounting? do you really need to spend double or triple of class time (extra 6/9 hours) studying a week? what was the group project like? i HATE group projects -____- thanks dbaz and hey verdasco, im glad i didnt get stuck with the evening class with gregory, it was either that or the last seat of the friday afternoon class. i took the friday class to go along with my Friday morning economics and my saturday business classes (sunday - thursday NO CLASSES YAY) anyway thanks guysss ;P

dbaz 12-18-2012 08:27 PM

I honestly didn't really study for her classes. To me it was a lot of common sense. But I guess read the chapter, remember certain terms. Final exam included terms which was multiple choice and like 3/4 short answer questions. I was the first done the final exam, took me like an hour if that.

Hey guys, I'm doing my final class in my ENTR program at Kwantlen.
As a requirement of this class, students will conduct a consulting report for a business that has significant goals or challenges that need to be addressed. For example, if your business is looking to increase sales, expand operations, launch a new product or is struggling to generate a profit.

I'm looking for someone that has a small business that could use some free consulting help.

This plan may include the follow:

• Market and industry research (trends, performance, competitors)
• Finance
• Marketing
• Human Resources
• Operations
• Strategy
• Competitor Analysis

I'm exhausting all avenues I can, so I thought I would ask here as well. If you guys know anyone that owns a small business that can use some free help. Give me a shout!

Anyone have a recommendation to which teacher I should choose for Eng 1100? Im currently enrolled in Larsens class..how is it?

MindBomber 12-21-2012 07:31 PM

I would choose Betty Anne, Kegan, Andrew, or Paul Ohler. A person not interested in English would enjoy Paul the most, but Betty Anne is the easiest marker. I would however chose Larsen over Shelley (boring, and a cunt), or Karen (simply cannot teach, and a hard marker). If you're willing to take 1202 instead, Neil Kennedy is a very unique, very odd man; he will absolutely improve your writing, and he is very available for help anytime you need it, so a good mark is within the grasp of anyone who is willing and able to put time into the course. Gillian was supposed to teach an 1100 block this semester, unfortunately it doesn't look like she will be, she's one of the top English instructors, but has low seniority.

Betty Anne will talk about her kids a lot, Kegan is a vegan hippie, Andrew specializes in the devil, Paul is a car music/guy, and Neil Kennedy is... very sarcastic but funny, and has received warnings about "appropriate" conduct.

I took larsens english1100 2 years ago, it was a hard class, but she was very helpful. I failed the first essay, but Kim asked me to sat down with her and had a really good discussion on what i need to improve on. And I did okay in all the essays after that. I think english 1100 is a hard class no matter who you take it with. But i would highly recommend Kim, she's a very helpful teacher, and truly wants you to succeed in her class.

Goddamn I hate english 1100, did you guys take any prerequisites?

wingies 12-23-2012 12:02 AM

Yea I have to agree with you guys, even being a CBC, engl1100 was difficult. This pretty much sums up most english teachers think

I had Robert Dearle. He's boring as a loaf of bread but really wasn't too tough. I left every essay until the night before class and still managed to get a B+.

wingies 12-30-2012 12:03 AM

What do you guys think?

Expedite your progress in a program, and take a course with a shitty prof, and attempt to do well?

Or wait a semester, and hope for a better prof and do well?

spot availability usually depends on what time your classes are... but Arcadia Road or even Ackroyd if you don't mind a bit of a walk
