My old Super Nintendo system

so after digging around in my house, i found I still had this system and a shitload of games.

now...

what can i do with it?

ideas?

- build it into my car for my son to play later?
- sell it?
- ??????
- profit?

god i remember the countless hours i spent playing that thing. I stayed up for 24 hrs trying to finish that fucking hang glider game with the final level that was a chopper rescue.

what do i still have?

Street fighter 2 champion ed.
Mortal kombat
Super Mario World
Donkey Kong Country
Lethal Enforcers w/blue gun lol!
Killer Instinct
Fatal Fury
Mario Kart
Legend of Zelda Link to the past.
Secret of Mana

...Does it still work?

Psykopathik 02-22-2012 10:25 AM

yup. it was basically mothballed when the Playstation and modchips came out. then it was Resident evil all the way.

Well the first thing I would do is blow on the cartridges....... :megusta:

Berz out.

Sell it and get a few bucks for it. Other than nostalgic value, there isn't much to be said for old consoles. In Nintendo's case, you can play a lot of the classic favorites through the Wii Virtual Console. Or, if you have a modded Wii, just get an NES/SNES emulator, and you can have the whole library available for play.

The one game I'd never sell from any of the old cartridge consoles is my NES Zelda.

It's GOLLLLLLLLDDDDDDD

That's only for the NES, that problem never happened on the SNES :p

My NES, SNES, N64 are all in a closet at my parent's place. If I ever feel nostalgic, I just use an emulator on my HTPC. It's good enough, and it means I don't have to store all the equipment.

Are your save games still present? Mine were still there, but that was 10 years ago.

Jmac 02-22-2012 02:56 PM

I have a friend who would probably buy some of your games off you. He collects SNES games.

Hondaracer 02-22-2012 04:32 PM

i'd say that package is probably worth around $200 for everything

I went on a huge buying spree snapping up old consoles and games for NES, SNES, N64 so i kinda know what everything goes for

Mario RPG usually pushes about $45-$70

Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, and a few others push $85-$150

personally i'd probably just keep it for nostalgia

BTW, lethal enforcers was fucking awsome, me and my dad used to always play the arcade version then when we found out they had it for SNES my dad went out and bought the game and both the red and blue guns :D

SkinnyPupp 02-22-2012 04:36 PM

Don't sell it, keep it for your kid.

mos_skeeto 02-22-2012 04:41 PM

Keep it. I was nostalgic and ebayed/craigslisted a lot of stuff last year. SNES cost me about 50 and games were 10~20 for the common ones. However I find it hard to find a good condition original controller. I even tried a copycat ebay controller which was even worse.

SkinnyPupp 02-22-2012 04:52 PM

Every time I come to Japan I am tempted to buy a bunch of games and systems.. An original SNES is like $30 and games are $5-10 each... But then I realize I dont have room for a lot of shit, and most of the really good games are on VC anyway...

I did buy a Dreamcast one trip.. played it once and forgot about it :okay:

Durrann 02-22-2012 05:06 PM

I'd say keep it
My friend collects old consoles n games
Some r worth a lot haha

Pretty much 50/50 across the board. Most of my Mario saves were gone, but I was surprised to see my Zelda files still in tact.

Reading this thread makes me want to whip all of those old consoles out. I'm specifically in the mood for some..

I use my SNES system still. It's great for playing classic games man. I'll never get tired of Super Mario All Stars, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, and any game that uses the Bazooka!

I took my N64 a little while ago too but it didn't do any justice on these new TVs. Only game I play on N64 is GoldenEye but it's so hard to play it now that I'm used to Call of Duty controls lol.

Last month I decided to whip out an old tube TV we had lying around to play GoldenEye. G O L D E N P P 7 baby!

Damn my old N64 is in Vietnam :okay:

Mananetwork 02-23-2012 12:48 AM

The newest system I own is a PS2.. I will never sell any of my old systems.

Finished this a few months back,
http://distilleryimage11.s3.amazonaw...3813ffc0_7.jpg

Finish Chrono Trigger before my trip and now I'm on Alundra for the PS1

FerrariEnzo 02-23-2012 01:12 AM

Re-play your games and try to beat your old scores... I did that last year... I had Street Fight 2: The World Warrior when it first came out for SNES.. til this day I remember how much this game costed me, $99.99... Had are hard ass time to convince my parents to buy it...

just to re-live that time.. the GUILE theme..
