My guess is that as long as the OP is reasonable about his request and doesn't get all uppity about it, his bank will likely give him back the $10 no questions asked.

Always have to consider the cost to the company to perform their 'investigation'.. if it takes a week, something tells me way more expensive to investigate than to just make the customer happy.
