I haven't been to any this year maybe someone can shed some light onto this | they all have business permits to be allowed to open a booth at the night market.
food safety is necessary for at least one of the people working in the booth, and they have health inspectors to inspect everything before they are allowed to open
they do random checks throughout the weeks to make sure things are still done correctly.
but then since they aren't there daily, there will be lots of corners being cut to meet demands of food and to save on cost

I have a booth at both location and it's a pretty different crowd. Rent works out to the same amount I paid for one at bridgeport last year....xP
Old location has an older crowd in general and way more tourist. New location has mostly younger kids and more Asians because that's where they focus their advertising.
I have to say that the new location is much better organized though....even though the owner is a sketchy snobby douche bag....=\

^ Rumour has it that the Richmond Night Market was forced to close in 2008 because the owner got into personal debt problems as a result of gambling. Completely unsubstantiated of course, but rumours don't come out of nowhere.
I saw the owner myself when I visited the Richmind Night Market. He didn't seem like the nicest guy as he gave some teenage garbage guy crap in public.

I think it should be more than $3000, anyone else chime in?

Why would anyone agree to pay more for something. If the vendors get charged more on rent, they will just pass on the added costs for the overhead onto the consumer.

Actually $600 per month, being only open 3 days a week so you technically only get 12 business days to work with. You will need to sell at least $50 worth of PROFIT on your merchandise each day to at least break even (that is considering that you are working the stall yourself) or you will have to split the earnings ... you better have a damn good niche market or you won't be making a "killing" per se ... how many toys or gadgets do these stands actually sell? Doesn't everyone just go there for the food anyways? I've personally never bought anything at the NM ... oh once, I did, those cups with the dice inside haha ... but that's 1 purchase in 5+ years of going there...

Oh, my bad I was under the impression that $600/mo was for vendor stalls only and that food stalls would cost a lot more due to safety/gas/heating/lighting/size/popularity.

you gotta look at it this way, if these people aren't making money, they wont be back each year, but its pretty much the same people each year getting these booths
and food stalls do cost a lot more, but they can easily make up the cost of rent in a week

Would you think these "return vendors" get special rates just to fill up the stalls?
Also how about money laundering, would having a space at the Night Market help them with that?... I'm not making any accusations, just random speculation. |

as for money laundering i'm uncertain, but i can see how that would help

the companies running the night markets only deal with the rentals, they don't play much of a factor when it comes to each vendors' personal sales.
they could always ban sales of certain things like copyright materials and create limits if they feel that the market is too saturated with certain items (ie. cell phone accessories limited to only 5 vendors)

didnt some dude cut the electric cords of the old nightmarket causing there to be electric problems last year? Was it due to conflict with the douche bag owner of the riverrock nightmarket or someone else?
can someone clarify this?
