blue or white color?, we should have a poll

c3m 10-02-2012 03:23 PM

^ Add Red too
Bell is releasing Red this month.

There will also be Grey, Black and Brown coming soon too

3klipze 10-02-2012 03:46 PM

@BigTrollFace

the one good thing about S3 is removable battery. Grab an external charger + extra 2100mAH battery and swap it throughout the day if you don't have access to plug.

edit: hands down, grey.

Really? I understand Calendar but the weather widget is quite ugly and in your face. I use Go weather ex. It looks much better and I can go directly into clock/calendar.

yeah, thats what I did with my nexus s. It was really convenient, but not having an extra battery to carry around would be convenient. But meh, im a student, always have a fucking bag on me anyways

dub.g 10-02-2012 10:48 PM

^ i actually find the battery on the s3 to be so thin i can slip in my wallet

Szeto 10-02-2012 10:56 PM

what case is everyone using? i am eyeing that otterbox commuter...

ws6ta 10-03-2012 06:26 AM

is 4g the same as lte? my s3 has 4g but i see that my brothers iphone5 reads LTE.

if it isn't the same how do I get LTE on my s3? its a rogers phone.

thanks in advance

mb_ 10-03-2012 06:42 AM

eggtart_prince 10-03-2012 06:59 AM

I don't think so. When my phone reads 4g, speed test gets 4 - 5 mbps. When it reads lte I get 12 - 15 mbps

Not on Telus, it says LTE if it's on LTE and 4G if it's on 4G.

Did you cut or re-use an old SIM or did you get a new one? Older SIMs don't support LTE, you need a new one that supports it. My cousin had that issue with Rogers recently.

:okay:

True 4G IS LTE.
The problem is that carriers have been screwing up and using the "4G" term loosely over the last year to indicate something (slightly) faster than regular HSPA.

Telus had been calling their DC-HSPA network "4G".
Bell had been calling their HSPA+ network "4G" as well (my old sgs2 from bell was advertised as 4G but did not have LTE obviously)

Nothing but a marketing ploy in the past to confuse the consumer.

All SGS3 variants in Canada are true 4G LTE phones.

!MiKrofT 10-03-2012 08:39 AM

Officially if your network can handle a certain speed it can technically be called 4G. Pretty dumb I know.

BigTrollFace 10-03-2012 09:58 AM

4g is not lte

I wanted one of those but too bulky. I'm using a Diztronic matte black TPU. Just enough texture for grip, but slides in and out of pockets with ease. Very minimal bulk added to.

Though to be honest, I'm thinking of going sans case.

Armind 10-03-2012 10:10 AM

so im using paranoid android rom connection shows 4g. that's not LTE? :fuuuuu: i have lte sim too..

I got a decent rubber bumper and a nice leather side-folding flip case for $25 from night market Probably cheaper online, but at least no waiting for shipping.

Also this one but is rarely used; mainly for going clubbing or something when I need a bit more extra protection: Momax I Case Pro for Samsung Galaxy S III I9300 Black Edge + T. Black

Simplex123 10-03-2012 10:14 AM

AOSP ROMs will show 4G and not 4GLTE like in TW

OriginalJC 10-03-2012 10:23 AM

I'm on Rogers, shows LTE for LTE. When I disable LTE, it shows 4G.

So at least on Rogers, they aren't the same. And the speedtests are different.

The one sold (SGH-T999) at Wind and Mobility do not have LTE.
Only the Robelus and Virgin are LTE (SGH-I747)
