anyone here using fido LTE on the s3?

specifically on an unlocked or rogers S3?

people at wireless wave telling me its unstable or might not even work at all .

this one girl said her friends s3 wont even recognize the LTE and hes stuck using 3g only

they also didnt believe me when i said rogers s3 will work with fido automatically and you dont have to unlock it. :fuckthatshit:

My friend is fido and he bought the lte sim and had to cut it to fit the slot. Downloaded speed test and he was downloading at lte speed.

Btw, loving Swype keyboard. It's still in beta stage but it's fully functional. Ditched swift key ever since that auto correct bug with chrome.

theres a ton of fido micro LTE sims left at oakridge if anyone needs. had to call and look around town a bit before i found a bunch at certain stores in oakridge :)

since september-ish fido has LTE and i believe the micro-sim LTE are fairly new. ( not to be mistaken with the nano-LTE for the iphone5s which is different) alot of stores don't even have them yet.

i went back about 10 pages and didnt see much about cases.


also what is CHATON? is it suppose to be for samsung users only or like BBM for S3/samsung users?

I used this site. I'm with Telus and it cost me $33 for my S3. Works fine, I can use T-Mobile chip in the states.

Telus does unlocks officially for $35, and don't have to scrounge up a foreign SIM.

Although I don't use it that often, ChatON is one of the BEST messaging services out there.

It works on EVERY platform (win.mo, android, apple, bb), amazing UI, lots of options!

The thing about these messaging programs including BBM it's all about marketing, hype and gaining user-support. It could be the best messaging service/application ever but if your friends refuse to use it, you won't use it, and the app won't go anywhere.

also how does GPS work? is it through data and google maps?

i presume if i download a special GPS program like tomtom or garmin it will let me use GPS without data enabled?

im guessing with SYNC off it also helps with battery life?

If you're using GMaps, then you will require a data connection (wifi or cellular) to refresh the maps.

Though now you can actually download maps onto the phone in Maps to use later without data. It's actually pretty neat, though for obvious reasons you want to keep it to a more precise area otherwise your map size grows out of control.

If you use a dedicated maps program that has preloaded maps, then there's no data being used (though tbh, offline maps + (Google) Navigation works pretty well)

You don't need to turn off sync entirely, just make sure it isn't updating every 30 mins. Stuff like twitter or news I have it syncing every 2-3 hours. Less important things I have syncing once a day.

Depending what phone you have, 3G+ will show up as "4G" or "H". For LTE, some phones show "4G LTE".

I won't be waiting much longer for it. I'll probably give it till the end of this week for an update or else I'm just going to go the root+rom direction.

I told myself I wouldn't root this phone this time because I wanted the official update come straight to my phone. But if I'm waiting till late November/Christmas time for this update, then I feel like I'm not enjoying my phone to the fullest, which will end up being sold for something new in a month or two anyways.
