so does anyone know why my s3 doesn't have video call option?

mr_chin 09-09-2012 08:41 PM

nevermind, found out that the i747m doesn't have this feature on stock rom.

Could use Google Talk.

Dang normally I'd be over the mood regarding an OTA which finally came, but now it's just "where's JB" :okay:

3klipze 09-11-2012 03:00 PM

the OTA update fixed a lot of bugs. Its definitely running smoother than when i first got my phone. For those who haven't updated. You should do it! That is unless you're running a custom ROM

To be honest I didn't find too much wrong with the OOB touchwiz experience.

The one thing I am astounded by is the increased battery life. Normal usage today and where I'm usually around 65% at this point of the day, I'm just about at 80% :ahwow:

If this remains AND we get that JB smoothness from Robellus' JB update? Man what a phone that would be :)

sonick 09-11-2012 03:13 PM

^ is that with LTE on or off? I've had LTE disabled coz of batt life but if the update improves it I will turn it on again.

3klipze 09-11-2012 03:15 PM

^ LED notification are finally fix (one reason it doesn't drain as much battery). This was a big issue for me when i first got the phone.

The lightflow app didn't work accurately either.

Now everything is smooth as butter.

sonick 09-11-2012 03:20 PM

What was wrong with the stock LED notifications?

I had Lightflow installed for a time but it killed my battery.

3klipze 09-11-2012 03:26 PM

well OOB LED notification was never "flashing". It was a constant LED light. (I would assume this wasted way more battery ??)

As for battery. Mine seems to be pretty stable. 4G on most of the time, turn on LTE when i need to download/surf the web. Sync toggled when needed. GPS off. Lowest brightness setting ( Auto when outdoors). No battery saving app. I get about 20 hours total with 4 hours of screen time.

edit: one problem it didn't fix was the cell standby. Not sure why that report still inaccurate. Some say it actually affects battery life on XDA forums

That's with LTE off as I don't have a LTE plan.

You're right the led is now fixed, but I never thought much of it staying on all the time. It is nice though to get the colour you actually set instead of guessing what's going to come out :P

Yes, battery life improved a lot compared to before. I would barely make it through a day at school running on LTE, now I have 40% left or so. Very happy with the update.

Anyone miss the profile features on BB?

I wish they have it on android. When I am sleeping, I want to turn whatsapp, email, and text notifications off but keep calls on.

They do have it on Android if you flash a custom rom such as Cyanogenmod.

There are lots of profile apps available on Google Play. I'm using PhoneWeaver.

Hey guys, just a couple questions. I noticed there's a dual core and quad core version of the GS3. Aside from the obvious, what is the difference? And which one should I get?

Dualcore has LTE and more RAM. Any version you get in N. America will be dualcore.

Quadcore has no LTE and less RAM. I believe only International markets got this.

Full`Throttle 09-13-2012 12:23 PM

So basically it comes down to whether or not I want/need LTE

There's also the Korean version with Quad Core, 2GB and LTE. But not sure if it works here at all.

edit: looks like the LTE doesn't work in North America.

But then you have to turn them all on again when you wake up.

Tbh the snapdragon is damn close to exynos quad. It's more than enough cpu for anything I could do on a phone - I would even say it feels snappier and better than the tegra 3 in my nexus 7.

Go for LTE
